Unusual Japanese antique kuruma tansu, keyaki (elm) wood front and frame, deep red translucent lacquer finish, heavy iron hardware, 2 locking bars each covering 2 drawers, safe box with three small drawers , keyaki horizontal bracing on sides and back, Edo Period (late 18th, early 19th century). Size: 47" high x 47 3/4" wide x 24" deep.

The Zhuang are one of the larger of the Chinese Ethnic Minority groups. This is a rare old baby carrier from Yunnan Province. Because silk was not readily available in the rural areas, the use of silk as the background fabric indicates that this carrier came from a wealthy family. The central panel uses several colors of fabric appliqued into a large stylized lotus flower. Silk thread is used for the delicate satin stitched embroidery of butterflies and flowers...

Antique Chinese dark hardwood imperial throne (possibly zitan) with elaborate carvings of dragons, its backrest comprised of three carved panels of dragons with pierced smoke motif, carved smoke headrest, pierced panels with dragons in each armrest, detailed carving along the seat's underside, claw-shaped feet emerging from beast's mouths. Size: 40.5" height, 28" width, 25" depth

These Chinese woman's Lotus shoes are from Shanxi province and are from the mid 1800's. In Chinese culture, to have, wear or use something from an ancestor (parent, grandparent,etc) was considered as a talisman and gave an element of protection to the user. This pair of lotus shoes was passed to a younger generation whose embroidery skills were, well, not as advanced as the original maker. But clearly the child left her mark on the shoes with the added embroidery of the birds etc.

Chinese antique hardwood cabinet with interior shelving. The cabinet doors are carved with pine trees and bamboo. The lower egister is carved with a rectilinear design. The bottom has a fan, a bat, and a lychee branch.

This extremely rare frame of bone is from the 1st century through Byzantine. The Roman goddess has independent movable balls in the cage and is extremely delicate and very fine. It was purchased in Luxembourg. Many were found by the world famous Dr. Allen Heflin while he was stationed in Rome. This is a once-in-a-lifetime find that took me many years to assemble. Antique Chinese hardwood round table with six matching chairs. Table and chairs topped with beautiful burl wood. The table and chairs are decorated with a scrolling pattern. Well constructed and comfortable. It measures 39" diameter, 32" tall. Republic period, early 20th century.

Rare Japanese Funa Tansu (captain's ship chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) wood in original medium brown finish. The upper portion has a large front drawer with kakute (squared) iron handles and decorative iron plating, lined in attractive silver rice paper. The bottom portion is very unusual because the right door opens on a hinge while the left door slides on a track revealing four small drawers also lined in silver rice paper...

Antique Chinese hardwood table carved with incredible handcarved flowering plum blossoms details on branches that crawl up the table legs. The table top is inlaid with a piece of stunning white grey marble.
