Large Japanese porcelain baluster vase, decorated all over with beautiful scenes of mountains and waterfalls, pavilions peek through trees and boat sail on water. The shoulders of the vase are painted with mountain peeks in green and blue and swirling purple mist. Mark on bottom states that this is Arita ware from the Egami Studio. Taisho Period c1920. Beautiful Japanese kesa made from a very high quality silk brocade. The work shown on this kesa is truly amazing. The gold picks up light easily and when it does, it changes the whole kesa to a golden color. The decoration is an auspicious floral design of hosoge (ancient imaginary flowers said to bloom in heaven) and karakusa...

This generously proportioned chawan (16cm in diameter) shows nice age, especially around the kodai, and likely dates from the early to mid 20th century. The base is unglazed showing the rich molded clay, contrasting nicely with the maroon and black glaze pooled beautifully around the edges. The badarai (horse watering basin) shape is very attractive and in this case especially fitting given the uncommonly large proportions...

Antique Chinese long altar table, made from a beautiful dark hardwood, with a dark, blackish brown finish, interesting patina on the tabletop, carved panels on both legs of a chimera, head down with its tails curled upwards amongst other swirling designs. Pierced carvings of pointed spirals adorn the undersides of the table on either side of the legs. 19th century Size: 81" length, 13.5" depth, 34" height

This small Chinese traditional oil lamp is complete with the original hand-blown globe and cover. The base has several rows of ornate grillwork. The cover is engraved on one side with a couple. The other side has a poem. The chinese is old in both character and language and difficult to translate.

The lamp is only 5 inches tall and of higher silver content than usual for China at that time, which indicates an owner of wealth...

Okutani Shuseki (1871-1936) was born in Osaka and lived in Kyoto for most of his life. His artistic lineage is among the very best. He, along with Yamamoto Shunkyo and others, studied under Mori Kansai, who was the pupil and adopted son-in-law of Mori Tetsuzan, who was one of Maruyama Okyo's best pupils. Like all painters of the Mori family school, Shuseki's nature paintings are remarkable for their unsentimental naturalism, showing his keen interest in the essence of nature...

The workmanship is superb and is in great shape. This is from a collection which we are selling for a retired jeweler. There are seven pieces of pale jade, every piece of jade is surrounded by butterfly design cloisonn¨¦. The back is a woven silver design.
