From the latter half of the 19th century, this beautifully proportioned iron vane graced the spire of the United Baptist Church in Ellsworth, Maine. In 1933, a major fire swept through the town, burning many of the buildings, including the church. When the church was finally rebuilt, the council wanted a more modern look, and stored the vane in the basement, where it remained for the next 70 years or so...

A good style seal carved slightly concave in a hemaetite stone, first Babylonian dynasty, (Amorite), 1894–1595 BC.

A bearded God with scimitar, stands before Shamash, with another lesser deity behind raising her hands in supplication; A sun disc set in a crescent in the fields as a symbol of the gods of the Moon and Sun.

This is a Chinese apple-green porcelain vase, 19th century, unmarked, of bottle form, with with a richly bright green glaze, excellent crazing; rim chip; 8 " high.

Chinese antique blue and white underglaze porcelain serving container with spout on side. Ribbed body with bulb shaped pouring spout. Foliage design on today and floral design on spout. Small restoration to bottom.

Circa 17/18th century

A porcelain bowl painted with over glaze "famille rose" enamels depicting a flowering peony shrub issuing from a stylized blue rock. This item was made in China for export to Europe during the second quarter of the 18th Century. Condition: very good - there is a 1.7cm chip to the inside of the footrim; no other damages and no restoration. 14cm (5.5 inches) diameter; 6.5cm (2.6 inches) high.

Old (1920's) Japanese Lacquer Inro with Boxwood Toad Netsuke by Masanao III Miyake Kisaburo

It is 2.8 inches (7.2 cm) tall and 2.2 inches (5.5cm) wide. The netsuke is 1.2 inches (3 cm) by 0.97 inch (2.5 cm) wide. It is 42.9 gram.

It is in good condition with no repairs except chips, peeling of lacquer and surface scratches (as seen in the photos).

Japanese woodblock print depicting an actor portraying a seated samurai. The image is signed at the left side "Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga" (1797-1861). The red Yoshi Kiri seal is beneath the signature. The print was published by Ibaya Senzaburo between 1847-1848. The paper measures 14 1/2"V x 9 7/8"H. It is most likely a panel from a triptych. Very good overall condition with excellent color. The print is not backed. No tape or tape stains...

19th century boxwood netsuke representing a theatrical mask of Buaku type. Wonderful quality detailed carving, lighter wood (probably ichii - Japanese yew wood), excellent staining and patina. The signature on the back bar appears to read GENRYO followed by kakihan (carved monogram) of the artist. Height 1 1/4 inches.

Rather unusual 19th century Japanese bronze scroll weight cast in a form of a two-horned chimera with a long tail standing in alert attitude on a base in a form of a tiny island surrounded by a gentle stream. Can serve as a brush rest as well. Superb elegant modeling of the beast with its thin limbs and slightly upturned face, wonderful patination ranging in color from dark red to brown to black, in excellent condition, pleasantly heavy...

Fine and rare two paneled silk embroidered “wedding blanket” from the small Maonan minority people of northern Guangxi Zhuang Province. This piece is 60 to 90 years old with a hand spun cotton foundation and hand spun silk. 19th century small Indian bronze votive sculpture of monkey god Hanuman cast in South India. His hands are held in praying gesture in front of him, and his tail forms a halo behind his head. Hanuman personifies ingenuity and faithfulness - his strength and courage helped Rama to defeat demon Ravana. Wonderful casting and detailing, pleasant patina. Height 1 15/16 inches.

18th century netsuke of an emaciated sennin seated on a base wearing a tattered robe and a leaf cape and holding a staff with a bundle of his possessions tied to its top, and with a dog affectionately leaning onto the man. A katchushi (or armorer's) tsuba, probably Myochin, with pierced decoration of ship's rudders (the significance being a comparison of rudders steering a ship to values guiding a Samurai's life choices.) The strong, homogenous, dense iron plate with only light tekkotsu and smooth to the touch. Dark patina. Momoyama to early Edo.
