Pair of interesting and rare heavy bronze dishes, perhaps also functioning as weights, Roman 1st.-3rd. century AD.
With lovely brown and green patina and decorated with perfect concenthric circles. The largest weight 166,48 grams and the smaller 139,50 grams!

Framed Chinese 18th century imperial blue ground gold dragon kesi fragment. This twisted gold dragon is surrounded by five color lingzhi shaped clouds. Dragon robes for the emperor contain nine dragons on them and this fragment pretty much sure is the front badge because of the empty space at the upper left corner where is to reserve for the edge to do extra work and decoration to sew buttons to the side of the robe...
Meiji Period Japanese Bronze Sculpture of Senju Kannon, the 1,000 armed Bosatsu of Compassion, the deity of pure bounty, omniscient and omnipresent. This divine sculpture holds its foremost hands in the Anjali mudra (hand position), universally used by people in Asia for salutation, it evokes an offering (of one's good feelings, of one's person, of art, etc.). This is a fantastic, masterfully rendered find for the Buddhist art collector. 13.5 inches, 34 cm. Excellent Condition.

Antique Japanese lady's kimono made with grey-green chirimen silk and white silk jacquard with orange and green embroidery of bamboo and plum blossoms with cranes. Details in wrapped gold thread and use of tiny shibori technique in the leaves and flowers. The front hem of the kimono is decorated with a delicate design of plum blossom in resist and white silk embroidery. The kimono interior is lined with red silk.

A nice Chinese Southern Song dynasty brown glaze tea caddy, Hongtang ware, Fujian province. A famous kiln produced tea ceremony items during Song to Yuan dynasty. A lot of Hongtang pieces are indicated as Jizhou ware by misunderstanding because of the similar clay and glaze. Ht. 11cm. This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 1/2” long (13 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

This Olmec translucent jade figure is 1 7/8" long. The bottom was broken off in antiquity which allows one to peer into its ancient patina and jade composition and also keeps the price affordable. The drill hole is original which is important as it is the best place to look at for authenticity. I had a jeweler install a modern 14K gold loop so I could wear it. It has excellent provenance which goes to the buyer.

The expertly thrown body, heavily trimmed with a potters knife (hera) is covered with the typical, glossy black iron oxid glaze inside and outside. Obviously due to a lack of manganese here it is more a dark brown, which is rare to find on Oribe chawans...
