This pair of porcelain plates was produced in France in the late 19th century. They are 10 inches in diameter. They have hand painted portraits of Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI. There is an artist’s signature "Garnier" on each one. The borders are celeste blue which are decorated with ornate raised gilding. These plates are highly decorative and will display beautifully. They are in excellent condition.

Chinese porcelain figure of Lan Caihe, one of the Eight Immortals in Chinese culture or Taoism. Lan is usually depicted carrying a bamboo flower basket as seen here. Lan's gender is always shown in an androgynous manner. The figure's earholes, nostrils, and mouth are pierced through. The bright enamel robes are accented in gilt pigment. This is a very interesting piece created by an early artist very skilled in needlework: an oval shaped map of England and Wales and small parts of Ireland, Scotland and France, the oval measuring approximately 19 1/2" by 17" (about 27" by 22 1/2" in the vintage gold frame). Judging from the seated figure of Britannia and the lettering and overall handling, I'd estimate this to date to the late 18th or early 19th century...

Late 18th to early 19th century staghorn / bone Kyoto school netsuke of a seated shishi (Buddhist lion) hugging a large ball. Unusual material for the subject, strong early piece with beautiful wear and patina consistent with age, wonderful face, powerful oversized paws, eyes are inlaid with brown horn. White stone has a very pale celadon tinge and some translucency where the carving is thin. The curving shaft terminating in a dragon’s head has a smaller chilong winding its way toward the larger dragon’s head. The underside is carved with a button for attachment. It is well-carved and polished and in very good condition. Acquired 20 years ago in a Richmond, Va. Estate.
