A delightful and rare Antique Chinese good quality Silver Pumpkin shape box, ca. 1840. Has intricate details and a leaf on top. Very good condition and workmanship, no repairs or alterations. Size: H. 4 cm. x 7 cm. diameter (1.5" x 2.75"). Bottom has clear pinpointed Chinese character mark.
DESCRIPTION: A large and quite fantastic Sumida Gawa vase with ribbed body, four large figures in high relief, and wide flared mouth. A thick, traditional flambe' glaze in dark brown and white covers the mouth and neck, and flows down the shoulders. Fine attention to detail has been paid to the four large handmade figures, all characters from Japanese lore, standing on ledges against the ribbed body...

This is an antique, Early 20th C., finely hand carved Japanese netsuke, made by Yukimasa (Tadami Uno), depicting a seldom seem version of a Fukura Suzuma or 'Tongue-cut Sparrow', with an elderly woman seated on the right wing of the bird, holding very tight to its neck, while carrying a pair of scissors on her right hand. Very nicely detailed with a rich patina. The bird's eyes inlaid in dark horn.Signed Kosho on the bird's bottom...
DESCRIPTION: A large and delightful carved wood figure of one of the seven Japanese gods of good fortune, Daikoku, the deity of prosperity. Here he is seen in his traditional pose, standing on two bales of rice with his wish-granting mallet in his right hand, and a bag of riches slung over his left shoulder. Daikoku is also venerated as the deity of the kitchen where such carvings were traditionally displayed, sometimes in the ceiling rafters for good luck...

A very finely cast statue of Bodhisattva Manjusri wearing diadem and formal attire, holding a book in his left hand, his right hand in argumentative posture. Manjusri is sitting cross-legged on an elevated lotus throne resting on the back of a stylized lion, itself standing on a rounded base. Bronze with dark-green patina. Traces of an original lacquering and gilding. China, early Ming Dynasty. Height: 6 1/4" (16 cm). Tiny part of diadem missing, otherwise very good condition.
Chinese Export Porcelain Platter for American Market with family Lion crest, and initialed Seal inside the Shield supported by two(2) leafy branches, orange reddish overglaze Lion on top, later part of 1700's to early 1800's, 19" wide, 16 1/2" high, 1 3/4" high, heavy orange peel surface, with cobalt blue border high lighted with brilliant gold. The condition is good, some of the enamel colors on the family Crest area is slightly rubbed off from usage.
A kozuka with sea shell and seaweed decoration with gold and silver overlaid on shakudo (a pickled gold and copper alloy) nanako ('fish roe' textured ground.) The utility knife handle with filed gilt bronze sides and back. Slight bend and the nanako somewhat dented in places. Would present nicely enough with a sword fitted to hold a kozuka in the saya (scabbard.) Kogatana (utility blade) not included. Length, 3 3/4 inches.
