This circular box is lacquered in brownish black with mother of pearl inlay encircling the lid which is well-fitted to the bottom box. The top is painted in slightly-raised gilt lacquer with two characters: “fu” and “shou,” for happiness and longevity. There is light wear to the edges of the lid, inner rims and to the base, as would be expected, and also a few minor touch-ups...

This pair of crystal candlesticks was produced in Europe or England in the late 19th century. The maker is unknown. They are approximately 10 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 5 inches. The crystal is hand blown so that the candlesticks are hollow. They are hand cut with geometric patterns. The edges are beveled and the contoured shape has cut panels. The color is deep amber. They are tasteful and elegant. Condition: Excellent

An appealing Seto ware Umanome (Horse eye) motif dish. This type of Seto ware was also referred to as ishizara, which can roughly be translated as stoneware. The first type of Seto stoneware appears in the Mino Taihei Monjo written around 1618. The wares were produced mainly for daily ware during the Edo period and became popular through the Mingei movement in the 20th century.

This celadon jade carving of a vessel with lid is a late 19th or early 20th century product. The vessel is called a "ding;" 鼎 a "Taotie" 饕餮 mask appears on both sides of the vessel. These vases of tapering square form are decorated overall in famille rose and noir enamels, each having four cartouches depicting courting scenes, surrounded by geometric and floral designs. There are four smaller cartouches on the necks with scenes of scholars and young men. The rims are thinly glazed, and the bases are unglazed...

A very unusual and extremely rare ink cake in the form of a crouching dog, circa 1800. From its underside you see evidence that the ink cake was hand molded, what is even more remarkable is that this is a white ink cake, and most likely would have been used in special paintings of the scholar class...
