A very nice hammered brass jardiniere from Russia's Imperial era. The vessel is raised on cast lion's paw feet and is flanked by ring handles grasped in cast lion's heads. The jardiniere is constructed in the traditional manner with seamed joints and a rolled lip. The bottom is stamped with the Imperial Romanov double-headed eagle.

Origin: Russia, ca. 1880. Condition: excellent, a few very small dings (difficult to see on the hammered surface). Size: 6-1/4" tall; 6-3/8" diameter.

An interesting blue and white hand pained porcelain plate of two scholars(?) greeting each other and a boy carrying a load in front of water with a rising moon in the far distance. There is an elaborate border including scholar’s roles on the side of the well between the rim and the center and at the outside of the rim leaf and flower border. I suspect that there is a very good version of this scene that was the model for this quickly done one that has a kind of folk art charm...

An uncommon and fine English wine glass with a pan top round funnel bowl atop a multiple spiral air twist (MSAT) stem with a medial swelled knop. Lead glass, rough snapped pontil.

No condition issues at all, and with excellent color, striations, and tool marks. The glass is 6" tall, with a bowl diameter of 2" and a nice foot diameter of 2 3/8".

Provenance: Bennington Museum, Bennington VT.

Across the front of the pitcher and on either side of the neck are hand painted flowers, very much in the Adam’s Rose” style. This form of molded pitcher closely resembles those in porcelain of J. and R. Riley of Burslem.
