A truly marvelous silver plate round box on enameled stand, in the form of a nesting dove, France hallmark, classic Art Deco form with the often depicted dove. Measures 8" wide, 6 1/4" high, and 6" deep. No marks other than the stamped France mark, artist unknown, but is certainly designed with a fine artistic eye. The bird has ruffled feathers around the neck, its feet grasping onto the base, with a short tail feather with step design...

Two small different shaped photo frames. Made of steel with gold damascene. The larger in the Moorish style with arabesques in the shape of a mihrab, the small one in oval form, backsides gilt. Condition: few traces of usage, the oval one without glass. Dimension: c. 13.8 x 7.8 cm and 8.4 x 6.4 cm.

Lovely antique Chinese blue and white porcelain gourd shaped vase with charming design of bats flying in the clouds. Perfect condition. Six character mark on recessed bottom. Xuantong 1909-1912, kaishu mark in regular script. Demonstrates clearly a feature that is often called hollow or fractured, line. The decoration of the piece, iron red bats among clouds is in a distinctly different style as compared to similarly decorated pieces of the previous reign...

DESCRIPTION: An antique French wine pitcher crafted like a barrel from staves of wood bound by five hand wrought iron hoops. The top hoop forms the neck and spout, the handle is iron wrapped wood. Originating from the Alsace region in eastern France, this pitcher is a wonderful compliment to any French, country or farmhouse décor. DIMENSIONS; 15" high x 12 1/4" diameter.

American Gold Frame Mirror, carved on wood deep and wide Framed step Mirror, Ca. 1920, 21" x 19" wide, 3" deep, 6" wide. Old original condition, no restoration was done on this framed mirror.

Beautiful old Nepali/Tibetan bamboo box with rattan bindings and metal chain. Bought this in Kathmandu in 1986 and it always been one of my favorite pieces. There are cracks on the outside of the bamboo, but none on the inside. H: 20cm/8in and 9.8cm/3.9in.

According to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, “The "Venetian" pattern was one of the more elaborate designs for ornamental desk sets. It is described in a 1920 trade catalogue as decorated with fields of richly chased ornament relieved by a deeply carved band of ermines at the base of each piece."

With its original powder puff made with either cygnet (baby swan) or gosling (baby goose) down, this American brilliant cut glass dresser box measures 5" diameter, 3" high. The lid is sterling silver and does has some dents around the edges. The cut glass is perfect.

FALIK NOVIK Arts & Crafts Hand-wrought Silver Cream and Sugar with Tray Measuring 10x6” Falick Novick came to New York City from Russia in 1893 at the age of 15. Metalsmiths in Russia had a long tradition of producing heavy hammered copperware, and Novick started out as a coppersmith. From our European Collection, a good late 19th / early 20th century cast iron mirror, probably English. A charming but unpretentious piece that can complement many different styles of decor.

Size and Condition: 28 1/4 inches tall, 16 inches wide. Excellent condition, no repairs or restoration and the glass appears to be original: Some general wear to the ironwork commensurate with age as seen in the second close-up, but this only adds to the charm.

A vintage c1900-10 paper-wrapped 12-1/2 x 3-3/4" glove box with an applied celluloid Neoclassical portrait of a lady in a gilt metal frame. This unsigned box is wrapped in a linen-textured paper and it is lined with a mauve textured paper interior. Byzantine Arabic Style Box in Copper With Arab Script, measuring 5.5” wide,3.25 deep,3.25 height circa 1880

Well made old storage basket, circa 1950s, acquired in Lombok, Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia in the 1980s this has been in storage since then. This has a slight trapezoidal shape to the lid and body. Excellent condition- no damage. Top- W: 24cm/9.5in x 21.5cm/8.4in and H: 9.5cm/3.8in.

Antique Japanese rootwood burl kashibachi, or serving dish for sweets. It is hand-carved from a beautiful hardwood, all in one continuous piece, and has very interesting twists and gnarls throughout. Meiji period (1868-1912) Size: 12.72" height, 16.5" width

This lovely clothes brush has a sterling top patterned with the classic Art Nouveau Swirling tresses and flowers. The brush is marked F & B for the Theo. W. Foster & Bro. Company of Providence RI. This company was incorporated under that name in 1898 and was among the largest manufacturers of jewelry & sterling silver vanity goods in the Art Nouveau period. The brush is 5 ½" X ¾" and dates from 1900-1910.

Small Victorian stick and ball wall shelf with a mirror on top and a hinged box on the bottom. This cute little shelf has brass tops and is grain painted. It dates fromthe early 1900s, and measures 23" tall x 12" wide x 5 1/2" deep.

A Victorian sterling silver ornate floral hand mirror circa 1890 1900. This antique 10-1/2" x 5-3/4" dresser set piece has a she ield cartouche that has not had a monogram. The silver marks are usually found near the base of the mirror at the handle, which in this case appears to have been shortened slightly, you can see a separate line, obscuring the hallmarks. The mirror was tested and it does test as sterling silver. Greatly resembles older Kirk or Steiff silver...

An interesting American painted wooden box with a domed lid and four feet. The color is a dark eggplant black (black with a slight purple hue) with split rattan bands painted yellow. The interior of the lid is painted yellow, teal green, and off white. The same color palate and pattern is repeated on inside bottom and outside bottom. This sturdy box is in excellent condition, measuring 13" long, 7" high...

 

An interesting antique silver plated pinioned-lid stamp box c1880-1890. This 2-5/8" x 1-1/2" unsigned box features a floral corner applique and two applied butterflies on the top, a pin stop and corner swinging pivot. The interior has remnants of what appears to be adhesive from some missing material and it has two cutout felt pieces; it would make a nice tiny jewel box also. This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a slight blush ...

An excellent example of French gilt, bronze doré work. This beautiful footed trinket box dates to around 1890-1910. The lid has a glass center and is surrounded by deep rose silk material and exquisite ormolu decoration. Inside is lined in a matching stripped floral silk. The sheer amount of work in this little box is testament to the quality of the piece. In very good antique condition, it measures 5.75 inches x 4.75" x 1.75" high.

Circa 1900, table size burlwood box with an unusual scalloped skirt. Was probably a jewelry box as there is a mirror on the inside lid and indications that there was once a tray inside. Original velvet lining. In excellent antique condition, it measures 12.5ʺ wide, 6.25ʺ deep, and 5ʺ high.

Oval wooden plaque decorated with a group of Tarantella dancers, in the marquetry work typical of Sorrento, Italy. Originally used as an ornament on the lid of a box, a souvenir of an Italian journey in the late 19th century or around 1900. Width "6¼/ 16 cm, height "4/ 10,5 cm. Condition: some wear (cf pics)

Large 19th Century Scandinavian pudding or butter box hand caved with intricate foliage in deep relief. The lid is held in position by two upstanding wings and a carved wooden pin inserts on one side to further secure the lid. In excellent condition it measures 12 inches high an 9.75" diameter.

An Empress Gloss papier mache advertising box circa 1890-1900. This German box has a fancy script "EMPRESS" GLOSS gold advertising decal on the lid. This 6-1/4" x 2-1/4" box has a black lacquer exterior and a red interior, and the lid is hinge-mounted. It is stamped "PAPIER MACHE" MANUFACTURED IN GERMANY on the bottom. We were unable to find out any information on the product or company, but the polish for Victorian period leather boots was typically known then as shoe gloss, so possibly this ...

An olive wood box, the lid decorated with an oval panel depicting an Italian couple, in the marquetry work typical of Sorrento. Late 19th c or around 1900. On the front is written Bellagio, meaning that the box was sold in this lovely resort by Lake Como as a souvenir. Width "8½/ 22 cm, height "2¾/ 7 cm and depth "6/15,5 cm. Condition: fine, except for the small key which is best left unturned, since it is difficult to maneuvre.

An absolutely gorgeous hand carved French casket with fruitwood, rosewood, and satinwood marquetry. The detailing throughout the whole casket is excellent with the inside lid also featuring marquetry. The inside of the box is lined with dark blue velvet and has a lovely lift-out tray. 19th century tortoise shell box on 4 wooden bun feet. Still has with original key and lock works. In very good antique condition, there are some cracks throughout the tortoise shell. Circa English 1870, a rare faux burl walnut book slide featuring a pair of gilt brass gothic revival style mounts enclosing an oval Sevres hand painted porcelain plaque of a woman. The faux painted burl wood and is quite exceptional in detail, depth and richness of color. Note: one brad missing in a lower right corner (see 2nd photo). In very good antique condition, it measures 6.25 inches high, 5.75” deep, and 13” long. Extends up to 22.5” long.
