This extraordinarily rare Olmec necklace has 57 beads all made from Imperial green true jadeite. All are highly translucent except 4 small beads. It measures 30" when strung open from end to end. It has been restrung in modern times. I have never seen nor heard of pre-Columbian imperial jadeite of this quality. Probably made locally under Inca overlordship. The ornamentation of this Ica-Chincha vessel is geometric, and it brings to mind a woven textile pattern and surface.

This is a carved portrait of Christ in gem quality emerald from Colombia. It has been specific gravity tested. It originated from the Chivor mining area in Colombia which produced higher grade specimens than the Muzo or Coscuez areas. It dates to around the middle 1600's and shows no evidence of modern tool marks. It is 233.24 carats. It is 1 1/2" tall, 1/1/4" wide and 1" deep. The patina is beautiful. A Veracruz stone yoke circa 250-950 AD in characteristic U-form, the thick implement with polished surface except for the outside. A flat top, the sides tapering slightly downwards. The end of each arm is relief- carved with an ornate pattern of complementary bands and scrolling plumage-like motifs. Remains of a red pigment in a speckled grey-light green stone. This incredibly rare Olmec spoon is made from Robin's egg translucent blue jade. It has a perfect classic Olmec mouth which is very hard to find. These spoons were used for ceremonial snuffing of hallucinogenic substances by shamans. It is 4 1/4". It has beautiful patina and weathering is obvious. I purchased it from the famous collection of Michael Robbins from Santa Fe in 1992. The last picture is a spoon sold by Sotheby's several years ago. The hammer price was $330,000.
