A nicely decorative Japanese burl Zelkova wood 'tobakobon' (smoking furnishing). Fitted with bamboo pipe holder, copper ash holder, and Zelkova shelf. Two handles of rosewood and sandalwood. Hardwood trim along the top with slight difference in wood shrinkage evident on one corner (easily remedied by a good restorer). Good condition with expected wear and evidence of use. 19th century. Height, 8 1/4 inches. Sides, 10 1/4 by 10 1/4 inches.
A well painted black ground thanka dating to the early part of the 20th century (1900-1920) depicting scenes from the life of the Buddha. No repainting or restoration. The painting measures 10"x13" and is unframed/unmounted. Glue residue on the back, as can be seen in the photos, along with some minor rubbing.

Chinese antique monochrome porcelain incensor with round squat body on three legs. The red oxblood glaze transitions to white around the short neck and flares slightly. Thick drips on the underside of the body. The copper content of the glaze is evident in green colored drippings on the inside of the lip.

Late renaissance memento mori skull ring. "Memento mori" jewelry translates to "remember thou must die", a reminder to all to live life fully, as death awaits. Memento mori rings were meant to encourage the practice of reflection on one's mortality. This is a very early ring with black enamel etching along the sides and back and a perfectly shaped skull in intaglio on the front. The ring is silver gilt with black enamel carving. Circa 1620. US size 8 1/2.

Fabulous chunky 18K and diamond-studded lover's knot ring hallmarked London, 1919. Unusual knot ring with three gold diamond-shaped squares superimposed along the knot band and table-cut diamonds embedded securely within the incised stars on each square. The figural knot can be seen on the underside of the ring and is almost as beautiful as the front. The ring is a US size 8 and can be sized.
