This is a very rare round hole coin known as a Yuan, as identified by the single character on the right. Yuan was a city in the state of Liang in ancient China. This coin has not been acid treated nor artificially aged, it is well worn and has the verdigris that is natural and impossible to scrape off by conventional means. This is possibly a card or ticket case made of rare piece of bingata cotton cloth. Bingata is katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) produced in Ryukyu islands ( now Okinawa ). This bingata was produced in 19th century, but this case might have been made later, early 20th century ( sewn by machine ). The lining is silk. In excellent condition. 13cm x 7.7cm

This porcelain serving dish was produced in France by Theodore Haviland Limoges in the late 19th century. It measures 13 inches long and 6 3/4 inches wide. The porcelain has molded decoration and handles are built into the dish. We know that it is factory decorated since there is an impressed mark as well as a printed mark. The border is turquoise blue. This is a set of woman's tobacco case and pipe case which are made of deer skin and has fine katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) komon pattern. The motif is pine needle. It has beautiful clasp of green bean motif which shows prominent craftsmanship in this age. The set also has a pipe, but it seems that it is not an original one as it is shorter than the case. 19th century. In good condition except for some patina. Beautiful Kyoto Nishijin silk obi, decorated with flowers, ribbons and mirrors. Gold is genuine and used in two different methods; strips of gilt paper (machine cut) and gold leaf wrapped around the silk threads. Some gold leaf are natually missing from the strips of paper - this did not show up in most photos (see enlargement photo). This obi looks older (clean) than shown in the photos. Circa 1920-1940. This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Cauldon around 1900. It was made especially for Ovingtons in New York. The saucer has a diameter of 5 3/8 inches and the cup is 2 inches high. The set is made of fine, white bone china. It is decorated with wide bands of heavily embossed gilding. There are borders of hand gilded scroll work with raised beading. It is the epitome of elegance. Condition: Excellent

An archaic bone Xi was from Warring States periods.
By enduring old patina, the ancient decorative piece was still in sound quality when old carving lines were revealed clearly.
It was also used as an instrument to loose the knotting rope.
An original hole was in the middle for fastening.

This fine antique large betel nut container from Burma is painted with a traditional ornate "yun" incised lacquer design called “yok-thei”. There are tiny dancers swirling through an intricate background of vine vegetation. High sided cylindrical betel boxes called "kun-it" were used to store betel leaves and other ingredients. The deep lid fits snugly to keep the contents fresh.

Unfortunately, this container is missing the original tray insert...
