Superb antique English porcelain plates from the Worcester Flight, Barr and Barr factory. Placed on a gilded "seaweed" background, the central roundels depict exotic birds, beautifully painted by Charles Stinton, a well-known and highly acclaimed painter of birds.

One of the plates has the impressed crown and FBB mark, and the other has that mark and the red printed mark. Condition is mint, with no flaws of any kind, including all the gilding. The diameter of each plate is 8 3/4".

This is good-quality Noren used in the merchant's family of the Yamagata Shounai district for Edo period. The figure pattern of a wave and the plover means a good combination of attractive harmony. Merchants of Shonai thought about the harmony with local people to the first. And there was the harmony of a merchant and the farmer there. The good-quality hemp was dyed in Tsutsugaki. Chinese famille-verte cafe au lait ribbed saucer, Kangxi(1662-1722), decorated with flowers, the border with branches of flowers and birds in flight, all within an underglaze blue zigzag border, the exterior with branches of flowers against a cafe au lait background.
