Japanese Wooden Shrine Pilgrimage Sign or Temple hanging box, Meiji period, 19th century, 27" long, 3 1/2" wide, 2 1/2" deep, Japanese "Kanji" hand script writing in black Ink, the condition is weather worn condition with beautiful old patina.

Antique Korean three section chest with beautiful inlay on black lacquer. The top section has three small drawers along the top, decorated with inlay in a geometric pattern. The cabinet doors are decorated inside with scenes of birds on branches. The other panels are decorated with landscapes, scenes of birds, and other animals. Choson period, circa 1900. It measures 20" deep 68" tall 40.25" wide.

This is a solid silver plate with an engraved Islamic design from Egypt. The plate has a sloping scalloped rim and features an eight-point star called "Khatim Sulayman" in the center, formed by two overlapping squares.

A beautiful and very early 18th century bizarre silk fragment, from a chausable of the period. Vegetal and flower motifs in polychrome silk, silver and gold thread on a salmon ground, the entire piece mounted on cotton. Excellent overall condition, with some expected oxidation of the metallic threads. The panel itself is 28" in length, and 9 3/4" at its widest. The mounted size is 30 1/4" by 11 1/4"...

A well-cast bronze figure of a squatting horned demon (oni), dating to the late Edo period. Arms outstretched, as if to grab something (or someone?). Strong, expressive facial features. Measures 4-1/2" in height. Affixed to a custom base, which adds another inch or so, for a total height of just under 6". Traces of pigment.

19th century netsuke of a terrified oni protecting himself with a huge old straw hat from being pelleted by beans during a setsubun ceremony. Setsubun is performed during the New Year by throwing beans around the house to exorcise the oni. This 19th century deeply-carved small boxwood root brush holder (Bi Tong) is 5 ¼ inches high and 2 5/8 inches wide. The carver used the natural shape of the root to create a pine tree and plum blossom. The workmanship is great. The design, carving and polishing are all very well executed. The bottom was filled with softer wood. It is in excellent condition.

This absolutely wonderful pair of Victorian opera glasses are marked Lemaire Fabt, Paris. They were made in Paris, and date back to about 1880-90. They measure 4” wide and 3” tall when fully extended and were part of the extravagant Paris opera scene during the Victorian period. What a joy to be able to take them to the opera today. It comes with leather casing with red velvet lining. Condition is good with age wear to the leather. Shipping is FREE within the U.S.

Finely carved Japanese wooden netsuke of a snake coiled in an interesting way; good old patina; good condition

Pair of 19th century Japanese sword menuki depicting kaki fruit - Japanese persimmon - on branches with leaves. Excellent design in Japanese taste. Bronze with beautiful brown patina, gold inlaid dewdrops on leaves, in great condition. Length 1 1/2 inches.

An interesting and rare stamp seal of a triangular form with a carved base and loop, Mesopotamia, c. 2nd. millenium BC.

The seal is particularly finely engraved with a horned animal and some interesting 'glyphs' in a freese above. With Egyptian inspiration and probably from the Middle Assyrian period, made close to the Egypt border.

A well potted porcelain bowl, covered with a creamy white, crackled glaze and an overglaze enameled decoration with lion and phoenix in red, green and black. Ming Dynasty 17th. century Swatow ware. Remarkable on this bowl is the fact that the rim of the bowl seems to be unglazed, and the base is fully covered with glaze. Two pairs of tea cups with sprigged ornamental decoration in lilac and twigs of flowers in gilt. English, around 1830 and attributed to New Hall. Unmarked except for the pattern number, 7940. Diameter of saucers "6¾/ 17,5 cm and of cups "4½/ 11,5 cm. Condition: one pair fine, the other (please see the last photo) with some wear, a star crack and a hairline. This pair to go with the first (optional), at a cost not exceeding the additional shipping fee.

The deity Shomen Kongo standing on a demon in front of a flaming halo. In front of him a rooster and a chicken and a monkey with a gohei. Ink and colors on paper. Painted area 25 x 11 inches. Several horizontal creases due to rolling, several small missing areas, all backed and partly retouched. New mounting in Chinese style. Overall stable condition.

The large seal of the hemispheric form and probably Parthian or early Sasanian, so like 0-500 AD, could be earlier though.

Done in a fantastic stone type - black with a spiders web of lighter colours. Attractive in hand. The shape of this stamp seal was probably invented by the Neo-Babylonians and continuued to be made in the near east until the end of the Sasanian period. The base is engraved with an unidentified cruciform symbol.
