Rich and enigmatic Ki-Seto hachi with incised foliate design and copper accents. This plate was made by Prefectural Living national Treasure Kato Sho (1927-2001) who excelled at all styles of the Mino tradition. This piece has a very tranquil Momoyama feel to it.

Round serving platter in the "Toucans" pattern from Hermes, produced for Hermes by Moustiers France in their famous faience ware.

This redware pottery is heavier than the Limoges porcelain in which this pattern is usually found. The Moustiers ware is less common as fewer pieces were made due their being handmade with a raised design, except the plates which are flat.

The platter is 12 inches (30.5cm) in diameter, and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Marked.

This remarkable tea bowl is from the kilns of Yoshida Shuen (1940-1987)—an apprentice of Miwa Kyusetsu (1910-2012) who was awarded the status of Living National Treasure in 1983. It features a warm crackled glazing with a portion of the foot of the tea bowl exposed, displaying the reddish coarse clay that this piece is fashioned from.

An exquisite Nerikomi basin by Shiobara Yoshio enclosed in the original signed wooden box exhibited at the 9th Nihon Togeiten National Exhibition. Nerikomi is the technique of working with layers of variously colored clays. This basin measures 17 inches (43 cm) diameter, 6 inches (16 cm) tall and is in fine condition. The original exhibition tag remains on the base with a note stating it was purchased for 400,000 yen (currently about 5,000 dollars) at that time...

Scrafitto dots surround a pool of crackled glass deeply impressed into the ovoid form of this ko-tsubo by Yagi Kazuo enclosed in a wooden box signed by his son Yagi Akira. White slip appears haphazardly slapped on the body as with a wide brush, creating a vigorous dynamic, combined with the pointilized circle and abstract form, there is a tension which draws one into the belly of the work, certainly reflecting the best this important artist had to offer...

This tall, footed vase is hand-thrown by one of the master potters of Tamba, Ichino Hiroyuki. It has knife-cut faceted sides and is glazed in iron brown on the exterior with a white-glazed interior. A “hi” mark in hiragana is on the interior of the foot. It is accompanied by its original, artist-signed paulonia wood storage box. Good condition.

This elegantly formed chawan exhibits a skillful use of iron tessha over a gosu based celadon glaze that shows a wonderfully mysterious that appears like drifting “metallic” clouds on a soft amber to green background.
