This pin is hallmarked "Kreisler" on the pin. It is 2 1/4" in diameter. The 10mm wide stone simulates amber in the center of the pin. The abstract leaves are in a warm gold tone while the rest of the pin is silver colored metal. The center stone is surrounded by 3 silver toned "leaves" . This pin consists of three layers and riveted together. It is very glamorous.
Completely handmade, this sterling silver pin is formed similar to a stylized sprig of lily-of-the-valley. It also bears an engraved inscription on the back that reads: “Anna F. Davies/The College Settlement of Philadelphia/1898-1941.” Davies was a founder of the settlement movement, and ran this settlement house during those years. French gold and sapphire stirrup cufflinks never go out of style. The strirrup (étrier) design was popularized by Cartier in the Art Deco era and continues to one of the most stylish elements in a gentleman’s jewelry wardrobe. The sides are worked in the classic curb link chain style and the hinged closures are capped with bright blue sapphire sugarloaf cabochons. Each cufflink is stamped with French 18K gold marks and un unidentified maker’s mark (“Ste DC”).
Many virtues recommend this large finely hand carved cameo brooch, including numerous artistic inputs from the cameo artist, the goldsmith, and the diamond jeweler. The female bust is gracefully rendered and adorned with a diamond necklace all framed with a 14K gold ornate frame. The top has a loop for wearing as a pendant.
