Lariat necklaces are a favorite of mine and when I come upon a good Mexican example, I make every effort to bring it to One Good Eye Silver. Truth be told, they don't come up as often as other forms but it is an exciting quest to pursue. The late Deco / retro piece I am presenting here is a clipless version - you can adjust it by tying a loose knot at the desired height and change the way it looks whenever you feel like it...

I thought long and hard before I decided to offer this stunning, very rare vintage Mexican ring by Taxco maestro Alfredo Villasana. When I first acquired it, my intention was to add it to my personal collection. I am a rings enthusiast and the specific design I have never ever seen before in all my years of buying and selling vintage Taxco jewelry. Yet how many rings could one possibly keep for themselves?

It has been a while since I last presented an Alfredo Villasana...

I have had this ring in my personal collection for several years now - always meaning to get it sized so I can enjoy - but I finally deciding to let it go. I have only seen this design once before, with a obsidian cab and a different shank but I really love how it looks with the “feathered serpent” jealously guarding an amethyst. A Mexican version of the classic "giardinetto" jewelry, this set of Matilde Poulat earrings is rather unusual with its all-silver vase that holds the flowers. All tell-tale characteristics of Matl's creativity are here though: the silver has a hand-hammered texture, the wire-work with its tiny beading surrounds the vase like an undulating silk ribbon, there are small round dangles hanging off each earring's bottom and, last but not least, we have intense splashes of color from the coral and turq...

Margot de Taxco loved combination pin / pendant necklaces and she designed them so that you could take the brooch away and still link the two lengths of chain and wear them alone as an elegant choker. I suspect that many pieces were comprised of inter-changeable elements so if you had this set and a different pin/pendant out of her “hand-hammered” line, for example, you could theoretically attach to this chain and enjoy that second brooch as a necklace too. Big, bold and beautiful, the bow i...
