Jade, ancient symbol of perfection, power and immortality is the STONE of the season. A classic 14K yellow gold and Jade man's ring, circa 1940, size 10, easily re-sized, stamped 14K and monogrammed in script LBC to CY. The jade cabochon has a nice translucency and measures 12 x 15mm; total weight of 6.2 grams. Condition is excellent.
A rare hand wrought bracelet by Madeline Turner, a New York City Jeweler who worked from the 1930's to the 1950's. She designed jewelry for Georg Jensen USA. A very fine 14K yellow gold mesh watch fob suspending a nicely detailed 14K Egyptian Revival Sphinx seal. Mesh fobs are most frequently gold-filled, but this example is solid 14K. The fittings at either end are beautifully engraved in a foliate pattern. The Sphinx seal depicts the regal creature in its traditional pose with wings swept back against the leonine flanks. A very pretty 14K yellow gold ring bezel-set with an oval gold quartz stone flanked by shoulders set with fused natural 24K gold nuggets. The quartz has good color and is generously streaked with gold in well-balanced pattern. Gold quartz jewelry originally became fashionable during the California gold rush and then again when gold was discovered in Alaska just before the turn of the 20th century.
