In the years I have been buying and selling vintage Mexican silver jewelry I have seen many "mask" pieces - this is, after all, one of the "pillars" in the genre's design index and I am also very partial to it and always on the look out for good examples. I have to also admit that seeing jewelry of a certain kind over and over again makes one a little more blasé and hence, more difficult to impress. Yet impressed I was with this astounding combination pin / pendant I am presenting here...

Great condition authentic Cartier rolling ring made of 3 interlocking rings: yellow, rose and white 18K gold. Weight is 9.1 g, says le must de Cartier on the outside of the rose gold ring, stamped on the inside in this order: 750 56 O 9142 Z Size is 56 (french), 7.0 - 7.5 (US)

A lovely 14K yellow gold round brooch featuring a reverse-carved intaglio of a marlin or swordfish. The fish, recently hooked, is pictured leaping high above the waves. The crystal is nicely painted and retains its bright coloring. The crystal is set in a sunburst frame. Essex crystals first became popular during the Victorian era and usually featured sporting animals such as horses, foxes and fish, or domestic pets...

A delightful ring converted from a French 18K rose and green gold and ruby stick pin. The design shows a pair of ruby cherries hanging from a pair of green gold leaves (the photos are upside down). The rubies have a nice red color the perfect shade of juicy, ripe cherries. The 18K gold design is mounted on a 14K gold band.

Cherries are rife with symbolism ranging from the eternal soul to female sexuality...

A whimsical sterling silver brooch and matching earrings depicting fish with applied copper wire and stone or art glass eyes.

The large brooch measures 3" long and 1 1/4" at the widest. Has a large oval amethyst cabochon. Signed Ed. Wiener Sterling. Has a rollover clasp that holds securely. Has some minor tarnish and surface scratches. Thick, heavy sterling.

The screw back earrings measure 1 1/8" long and 5/8" at the widest. They have faceted bezel set purple stones for the eyes...

One of the most talented Taxco maestros, Gerardo Lopez was exceptional in the art of repoussage and his jewelry is sought after and avidly collected for its quality and inventive motif combinations. I have suggested in the past that he must have worked for the Los Castillo and / or Margot de Taxco because many of the motifs he uses are also found in the famous workshops' creations...

Art nouveau 14k ring with oval lapis and 5 5-point diamonds, c.1920's. Is size 4 7/8. Front design measures 15/16" long by 5/8" wide. Lovely art nouveau design. Very good condition with possibly some "glue" between prong and lapis......$14 for insured USA shipping.

This lovely 3 diamonds and 14Kt yellow gold pendant represents the yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The three round diamonds are prong set and flexibly connected by knife edge bars. The approximate total weight of all three diamonds is 0.36Ct. The pendent is accompanied by a 14Kt yellow gold 18” long square wheat chain.

This is a lovely 14k Victorian carved onyx and black enamel mourning brooch with seed pearls circa 1860. 1.5" x 2.125"

Condition: The C clasp and hinge are in good working condition. There is a slight roughness to the inside lower tips of the onyx framing the pearls and a small chip to the enamel on the upper right edge of the "v".

Charming, dimensional, and original design pin with applied silver man/scissors/flora, and applied brass and copper, and set in textured copper. A vintage modernist pendant by Jens Ib. Bluitgen, who was head of the design workshop of Georg Jensen from 1953-1961 before going out on his own. Made in Denmark. Three lightly hammered sterling curved shields with an oxidized dark patina suspended from a sterling heart shaped neck ring.

The pendant is marked 925S for Sterling, IB for the maker and Denmark. Measures 4" long and 1 1/8" at the widest. The pendant has some minor wear to the finish on the front and tarnish on the back...

Any actor, actress or lover of theater would appreciate a whimsical comedy and tragedy broach made of 18Kt yellow gold, from the 1960's. This wonderfully executed classic symbol of the theater is three dimensional, and has polished and satin finish bringing out its irresistible charm. The heavy broach is marked 750 (18Kt) has a makers mark KG, and measures 2” wide by 1 ½” high.

This Victorian Etruscan lover’s knot broach is made of 10Kt yellow gold and centered by an approximately 0.05 Ct old-mine diamond. The diameter of the broach is 1”.

Chic statement vintage 1970s Givenchy necklace in antiqued silvertone metal with large dimensional sliding pendant with a hammered finish, on a matching chain with foldover clasp. Clasp is marked four times front and back with the back to back Givenchy double G logo. Pendant is 3 inches long and chain is 30 inches long. Excellent condition. Slight openings along the seams along the top of pendant are part of the manufacturing and not damage. Display form is life size...

Silver tie clip with the Hopi figure of Kokopelli, a fertility deity. Made of two silver plaques; one cut through, the other engraved and oxidized. Engraved cipher mark of the native American Indian silversmith, and stamped mark Bennett Pat. Pend. C-31. Bennet was the inventor of this tie fitting mechanism. Height "1 ½ / 4 cm.
