This delicate and detailed sterling silver gilt and fresh water pearl pin was made by the Newark, N.J., firm of Link & Angell, c. 1910. It is in the form of a maple tree seed and pods, and is beautifully and realistically formed down to the veins in the seedpods. The pin measures 1 5/8 inches long by 3/4 inch from the tip of the pod to the curve of the stem. This wonderful Finnish pendant measures 3" x 2". It is sterling silver with superb punchwork and solid sterling bead application. It has 5 decorative dangles to complete this Kalevala Koru piece. The back has all the standard Finnish hallmarks: back to back K's for Kalevala Koru, Finnish Crown Stamp, 925H for silver content (sterling), boat stamp for Helsinki and S7 for 1971. This pin was orginally designed by Mexico artist Frederick Davis in the 1930's. This piece is signed MEXICO SILVER but without the FD mark. Here is a lovely necklace of openwork panels, each with a center marcasite, and three prong-set carved carnelians. All are suspended by a white metal chain decorated with embossed links. The beveled carnelians are decorated with carved stylized leaves and stems. The necklace measures 17 1/2 inches; the spring ring clasp appears to be original.
