Navarrete was Spratling's first master silversmith and trained other silver artisans in Spratling's early Taxco, Mexico work shop. An original Retro period, amethyst and diamond ring is set in 14Kt yellow gold. The 18 X 10 millimeter oval cabochon amethyst is prong set and is further enhanced by 3 single-cut diamonds set on top of the solid shank that spits into three on one side of the ring. This unusual pin features an applied abstract motif of molten silver mounted on a rosewood panel. The wood has a backing of silver and a secure rollover clasp. This lovely ring is adjustable in size. It has a great, Taxco Mexico design. It features a sparkly, goldstone: bezel-set. It is marked and signed TAXCO MEXICO 925 in a circle with the silversmith's initials in the middle: APF. The other mark is the "spread eagle" assay mark with the number 3 in the middle. The stone is orange with several tiny gold sparkles. It is in excellent condition.

A very fine 14K yellow gold mesh watch fob suspending a nicely detailed 14K Egyptian Revival Sphinx seal. Mesh fobs are most frequently gold-filled, but this example is solid 14K. A fine green-toned cat's eye chrysoberyl cabochon surrounded by delicate scalloped border set with seed pearls centers this Victorian stickpin conversion ring. Joseff of Hollywood was better known as jeweler maker for the stars. This necklace is composed of five discs with raised bulldogs on each. The center disc has a larger dog. The brass discs are attached to a brass link chain. Joseff designed jewelry from the Deco era into the 1950's.
