Charles Brooking, 1723-1759, English. This oil on panel is a fine example of the early work of Charles Brooking, known as one of the finest British Maritime painters. It is 13" by 19" in a handsome newer frame (overall dimensions of 16 3/4" by 22 2/4".) The condition is good and it is signed indistinctly (as many of his paintings are) on the piece of wood floating in the lower front of the painting. He is listed in Benezit and his paintings sell for up to $400,000.

This incredible Clovis point, found on the Little Missouri River in Nevada County, Arkansas in 1928, is made from highly translucent novaculite of which only a few are known to exist. A fine cold-painted Vienna bronze eagle of the highest quality and unusually large size. The painted decoration is wonderfully complex and detailed. The bronze is marked "Austria" under the tail feathers. We have seen this exact bronze with Franz Xavier Bergmann marks.

A strong oil on wood portrait of a gentleman sporting a long ponytail, and wearing a large black hat, a ruffled white shirt, a brownish-gray jacket. Cleverly executed to look like the painting is oval and in a mat, in actuality the entire surface is painted and is not a mat.

In 1981 Haku Maki suddenly produced a modest series of prints with a vinyl (old leather)-like background. I have already written about several of these in my Research Note 8.
