A beautiful countryside landscape of northern Italy done circa 1950. Oil on canvas, period frame

Godfried Schalcken (attribution), Dutch, 1643-1706. This oil on panel is 9.5" by 7.5" in a gold leaf frame with overall dimensions of 12" by 15".

A naive ink drawing, possibly by a child, charmingly titled "EXCHANGES", featuring a mounted cowboy on right firing at an Indian with chief's headdress, firing an arrow at the cowboy while crouching behind a protective rock. A cactus at far left and steer skull at right complete the composition. Probably dates to the early to mid 20th century. It is a simple image, but states a message in a rather straightforward manner. Size is 8" by 12" in simple wood framing.

Haku Maki loved the kanji (Chinese character) for dragon—and he did it more than once. Both of the above—Work 73-14 A on the left and Work 73-12A—were done in 1973. Read about them in more detail below at stock numbers 1005 and 1039. NOTE: Those born in the Dragon year were born in 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024.

Contemporary pastel portrait of a contemplative young brunette, 19" by 14 1/2" (25" by 20 1/2" in gold framing), signed at lower left with what appears as "Fredric Golds" (or, "Goldstein", or "Goldey" or similar). The obviously-trained artist has demonstrated his skill with pastel. The work probably dates to the 1970's or 1980's and is in excellent condition. There is some gold loss on the frame in a few places.

Ben Horowitz known for his abstract work and series of figurative painting done of acrobats in the 1980s. Trained as an artist at Maryland University and exhibited through out the 1990s.

In the early 1980s Haku Maki produced this unusual print, Poem 3. It has a kanji bottom margin (Mountain and Water) and is only slightly embossed. It is as if he started to do a lithograph and then decided to emboss it a bit. It is a modest-size print and not spectacular. By the time he did this print Maki had finished with embossed kanji and ceramics and was heading toward less compelling work.Poem 3 has a gold sun right center, but the print has no drama and no oomph. 15x15cm.
