Naive, or slightly primitive, almost folk art painting of clapboard 19th century style buildings next to an inlet of the sea, signed at lower right by artist Martha Crosmer. I see a listing for an artist by that name, born 1909, deceased 1995, last known address in Monrovia in Southern California, with earlier roots to Montana, but this painting does not resemble the desert plein air works that artist apparently painted...
Poem 70-73 Taiwa (Level or peace), 31/106, 17.5”x 24.5”.
Haku Maki produced this Big Green print in 1970. His Big prints-—large for him-—appeared mainly in the period 1968-75. This print, the only horizontal one of all his Big prints, depicts the kanji for Level, Peace and the like. I believe it has other meanings.
When I first saw this image many years ago but had not seen the bottom margin clearly, I thought it was a stylized rendition of Woman, a very frequent Maki subject...

They are each signed by the artist, one M. Mahmoudi. I have not located information on the obviously talented artist, who is likely Californian; found in Los Angeles. Condition is excellent. Very antique drawing of a building, maybe a hotel/drinking establishment combination, large for its time and place, dominating a street scene filled with a number of tiny yet interesting figures, including a drummer at right; two horses; and even a dog. This work, apparently unsigned, measures 9 1/4" by 13 3/8". The artist used a soft paper and some kind of gouache or tempera, which allowed him to show fine detail, as well as a light pastel touch in the sky...

This carefully crafted drawing of fuchsia and a tulip-shaped bloom reminds me of early American folk art Americana like Pennsylvania fraktur.......but, this is Russian! Condition is excellent with just slight mottling of a leaf... I think this could be just the artist's handling of the paint. A colorful and che...

An example of the THOMAS KINKADE (1958-2012) canvas print published in 1989, "New York, Snow on Seventh Avenue, 1932", hand signed and numbered 629/935 at lower right corner. The work measures 17 1/4" by 26 1/4" (25" by 34" framed). Kinkade created a phenomenon in the 1980's and 1990's with his immensely popular prints in numerous titles, all of which focused on a unique Americana wholesomeness, mixed with a kind of fairy tale nostalgia. The idyllic nostalgia was considered an escape from the...

I offer this work on paper, 19" by 25" inside the mat, 26 1/2" by 33" framed in simple black frame (to be shipped without glass), as a print of some kind by the important Swiss modern artist HANS ERNI (1909-2015). Several examples are to be seen in the auction record, and they are I believe mistakenly described as gouache, original, unique works. Ind...
