Oil on Canvas on Board, 13" x 10" unframed Juan Pablo Salinas was born in Madrid in 1871. He studied at the San Fernando School of Fine Art. In 1886 he moved to Rome where his older brother Augustin, also a painter, was there since 1883 on a scholarship awarded to him by the government of Saragossa. The two brothers lived in Augustin's studio at Via Margutta in Rome. At the same street there was Chigi Academy where Juan Pablo took classes...

The painting which is acrylics on panel measuring 36” x 41” is a delicate work done from his studio.

A large oil on canvas, 36" by 24" (44" by 32" framed), the subject a number of circus clowns, skillfully painted, signed at lower right by noted American clown artist ROBERT OWEN (1930-). Owen was born in Polk County, Missouri. For many years he has been recognized as a master at painting clowns. Reproduction prints have been made from many paintings. This example is in excellent condition. Note also the interesting framing.

Oil on canvas painting of white and pink roses in a blue bowl, signed at lower right "Strachan". The work, measuring 18" by 24" and 23" by 28 1/2" in likely original frame, has tiny losses in background and lower left area. The frame also has light wear, and losses on back of left edge. Overall, a very shabby chic piece in feeling. There is an old Los Angeles framer's sticker on reverse backing.

Jane Wooster Scott grew up in eastern Pennsylvania and was exposed as a youngster to the vivid Americana atmosphere that remained in the region into the 1940's. She moved west to hopefully become a movie star but ended up remaining in Los Angeles, though she returned to the east for inspiration...
