A PAIR of ink sketch drawings, one fully signed, the subject female nudes, executed in brown ink, measuring 10" by 6" (18" by 14" nicely framed in gold), the smaller work, (4 1/4" by 3 1/2", and 12" by 11" framed) a black ink sketch, signed with initials, of a standing woman in full-length dress with poofy sleeves. The artist is MARCEL-LENOIR (1872-1931), born with the name Jules Oury in Montauban, southwestern France...

This work is somewhat primitive but the artist has created an interesting painting. There is a listed artist Frederick Emmanuel Shane (1906-1992), a Missouri regionalist who also painted in Colorado; conceivably this could be an early work of that artist, for some reason signed "F M Shane"...

Watercolor and ink drawing of the Seine in Paris by Notre Dame, 7" by 8 3/4" (13" by 15" framed), signed at lower left in pencil "Leprin". This COULD be a work by well listed artist MARCEL LEPRIN (1891-1933). I hesitate to state unequivocally that it is, as the long hand signature differs from the commonly seen all-capital letters version. The artist was known to do very similar works of Paris, and many other parts of France, from Normandy to Marseilles...

Watercolor on paper, unframed, unsigned, dated 1924 and titled "Col Spgs", showing old houses against a mountain backdrop. This is a beautifully executed work by an artist that I would imagine is listed, but, he didn't sign his work. The sheet measures 12" by 17 3/4". There is a sketch of a man's profile on the reverse. If you live along I-25, or even if you don't, you will appreciate this fine old drawing from Colorado Springs, where the Broadmoor art colony flourished.

Hutty was born in Michigan and as a youth lived in Kansas City and St. Louis, where he attended art school. Watercolor on paper, 4" by 10 3/4" (8 1/4" by 15" as framed), signed at lower left with what appears as "Stribens" or "Stirbens"......I do not see a listing for such a name. I could be misreading it. In any event this is a decorative old vintage watercolor landscape by a talented artist, still in its original frame. There's no glass currently, but the work has survived the passage of time in excellent fresh condition, with only a tiny handful of foxing spots...

Hermine David 1886-1970 French This is a fine original oil on canvas by French artist Hermine David 1886-1970. The subject is a group of strollers in Luxembourg Gardens, Paris. This painting done circa 1930 is signed lower right and measures 18 1/8X15 inches. Housed in a custom French style frame. Hermine was one of the Ecole de Paris artists. In 1918 she married Jules Pascin. Their association seems to have been an influence on the artwork of both artists.

Although unsigned (and Detreville's output frequently WAS unsigned), the handling, subject matter and color palette almost certainly suggest the hand of the noted California painter. I have owned and sold other unsigned paintings as being by Detreville, and I will stand by this one being by him as well...

A small unframed watercolor painting of an early adobe structure of Northern California, similar to the historical, rare structures that may be seen today around the plaza in Sonoma, 7" by 9 1/2", signed at lower right by listed artist JEAN G. WALFORD (1875-1938). Walford was born in England, but was in Berkeley by 1917. She ran an art gallery until her passing in 1938. The watercolor came from an old Bay Area collection.
