For the collector of Judaica or Jewish art, here is an opportunity to acquire a fine impressionist painting of a Jewish rabbi or holy man, signed at lower left in both English and Hebrew, by the noted listed Jewish artist DAVID GILBOA (1910-1976). The work is a vignette study, impressionistically painted, with expressive brushstrokes. Condition of painting and frame is excellent save for an approximately 1 1/2" long vertical tear just below the beard...

PAIR of decorative oil on board paintings executed circa 1970, in the classical style of the 17th or 18th century, each 6 3/4" by 5" (12" by 10" in the frames), each signed "H. Muriel". The paintings are affordable and will nicely fill that small wall in need of some art. Frames have the slightest of wear, the paintings are in excellent shape.

Poem 69-13 is an old embossed print. Created in 1969, it is in excellent condition. It measures 11 1/8in W x 15in H and is number 61 of an edition of 82.

CLEMENT METIVIER ( 1910-1996; A CANADIAN-AMERICAN Artist. "AUTUMN IN THE HILLS", Oil on Masonite. Signed lower right. Metvier was born in Canada, worked in the New England area, and in 1946, moved to California where he remained until his death. He was known as a California painter. “He was a highly skilled plein air painter, his works are rare” (Edna Hughes: Artists in California.) Dimension; 16" x 19"; framed; 20.5" x 24.5". Excellent condition.

Original etching on copper by Wendell H. Black (American, 1919-1972), first edition, printed posthumously by Berkley Chappell. In excellent original condition, roughly 4' by 6". Titled and numbered 7/25 l.l. Also signed and dated '61 l.r. This work is also signed and marked "imp" by Berk Chappell. cf: "The Lost Works of Wendell H. Black" by Henry Sayre, plates 7 and 8--plates are misattributed in the book, since GH III should be plate 8, and GH IV should be plate 7.

A pleasing image of what appears to be a colonial church, perhaps in Brazil, or elsewhere in Latin America, or Mediterranean Europe (Portugal?----the architecture of the building suggests Brazil or Portugal) where palm trees grow; the apparently unsigned work, 7 1/2" by 5 1/2" (12" by 10" in gold framing) is, I believe, a monotype...

Complete 1967 portfolio of 25 soft ground etchings with aquatint by Jack Levine (American, Boston, born 1915). This work is complete--portfolio case plus all original material, including the 25 soft ground etchings individually pencil signed by the artist and numbered 37/100. Published in 1967 by Touchstone Publishers on handmade BFK Rives wove paper. This portfolio was inspired by the "Dreigroschen Oper" film by Pabst, after the play by Bertold Brecht (The Threepenny Opera)...

Original oil painting on panel by Henry Kallem (American, 1912-1985) circa 1965. 16" by 12" painting alone. This painting bears on the verso an identification label stating: "Monhegan Series (Sunrise Sunset)/ 1965/ Estate Inventory on File: Boston Art Club." Henry Kallem was known as a painter and a printmaker. Originally from Philadelphia, he studied with his father Morris Kallem, also a known painter. Henry's brother is the sculptor Herbert Kallem...

From our African Collection: a Red Guro Mask from Guinea, circa 1970. This work measures 7 x 17' h, and is available for purchase. Between the Baule and the Yaure to the west, the Malinke to the north and the Bete and We to the south, the Guro people live surrounded by savannah and forest. They migrated from the north during the 16th century and number about 200,00. Guro villages have rounded houses in the northern area and rectangular houses in the southern region...

Oil on canvas painting completely in the distinctive sepia tones manner often employed by the artist, 14" by 18" (19 1/2" by 23 1/2" as framed), the subject the famous aspen and mountains of northern New Mexico, signed at lower left and notated there "Taos" by well listed artist THOMAS L. LEWIS (1907-1978). Lewis was born near Houston and was already a professional artist by age 19...

Oil on canvas painting of a stand of trees by a small pond or lake in early autumn, 20" by 24" (25" by 29" as framed), signed at lower left by the listed California artist RICHARD VERNON JOHNSON (1905-2001, death date sometimes given as 2007). Johnson was born in Montana and moved with his family to Long Beach, California by 1920. He studied at Chouinard Art Institute and the University of Montana. Johnson taught at various institutions in Orange County...

Watercolor painting of a young ballerina-like ice skater on a frozen pond, 9" by 12 1/2" (17 1/4" by 20 1/4" framed), signed in red at lower left by gallery artist Craig Smith. There seems to be little internet information on the artist, though another work in my shop by him, an oil, comes with a business card showing that he exhibited at a Carmel, California gallery in the mid 1980's. The present work seems to pre-date that by a number of years----perhaps circa 1950's or 1960's...

A circa 1960's to early 1970's oil on board painting in earth tones of dark brown, tan and cream, unsigned, 9" by 22" as framed in black with gold and an orange velvet liner (pure 60's!). The imagery could be purely abstract though to me, a skyline and reflection of that skyline in water is suggested----such as Manhattan from the New Jersey side of the river. A very Mid Century addition to your interior.

A French painting on Masonite of orchids, in a detailed, "fool the eye" ("trompe l'oeil" as it's known in French) style, 9" by 7" (18 1/2" by 16" in circa 1950's quality closed-corner gold framing), signed rather illegibly at lower right in the wet paint. For some time I have attempted to decipher this signature but have come up short. Obviously the painter is skilled; note the detailed and realistic water droplets on the flowers...

Very finely cast sculpture of a horse head and neck in cast iron, mounted on heavy black marble plinth, early to mid 20th Century, unsigned. Measures 14" high, 8 3/4" wide on the black marble base that is 6" square. Well sculpted head and neck of a horse, arched neck with the head sightly turned to the left, mane loose and flowing, mounted to black pedestal base with two iron rods...
