Beautifully beautifully original framed Engraving of General McClellen and the union army. 25“ x 32“

Jake Lee's works are increasingly sought after by collectors in the wake of his relatively recent passing, some works approaching $20,000 at auctions. This is a clean, unusually large (24" by 36" plus 4" on a side framing) example, painted directly on board in heavy gouache or tempera (thinned oil?) and in excellent condition. Signed J.J. and dated 1772 on the lower right, this watercolor on wafer shows an obviously well-off woman attired in the latest finery, and with an elaborate hairdo with a lace cap.

Excellent condition, with no flaws to speak of, and measuring 1 1/2" by 1 1/4"...

This is an example of one of the more desirable and scarce Currier and Ives images, the "Skating Scene--Moonlight" of the year 1868, the image measuring 7 3/4" by 12 7/16", the sheet a somewhat irregularly cut 9 1/4" by 13 7/16"...

A color print, 14 1/2" by 25" (23 1/2" by 33 1/2" framed), titled at lower left margin "Eve of St. John by Peter Hurd", pencil signed at lower right margin by the noted American artist, PETER HURD (1904-1984). This print, which appears to be rather scarce, dates to about 1960. It is after one of his most famous paintings, which I believe now rests in the collection of the San Diego Museum of Art...

Rare gouache on paper circa 1940s by Emanuel Glicenstein (Glicen) Romano (American born in Italy, 1897-1984). This work measures roughly 12" by 9" (19" by 15" in its frame). It is signed Glicenstein Romano l.l. Glicenstein Romano worked for the Federal Art Project creating murals in the thirties. He created a series of allegorical works depicting the Holocaust in the forties and this work may be part of that group...

This is a sensitively painted work of a subject obviously very familiar to the artist. Kelley studied on a scholarship at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, where he counted the artist Charlie Dye among his instructors...

German composer Robert Schumann (1810 - 1856) is the subject of this thoughtful treatment of one of the great music writers and critics of the Romance era.

The nearly all white sculpture depicts the musician in a pensive focused gaze, carved in simple but expressive lines. The economy of carving contrasts with many 19th century styles which were more extravagant in their renderings of their subjects.

Maidment was a painter in oil of rural scenes and landscapes. He is variously catalogued as Robin or Robert Fenson but usually just signed “R. Fenson” in red, often with a date. This was a pseudonym for Henry Maidment who also was known to have signed “A. Wynn”...

Henri George Keller was a very influential American artist (he counted among his students Charles Burchfield, Paul Travis, and Frank Wilcox.) He is listed in all the usual databases...

Large mixed media abstract painting (28 3/4" by 39 1/2", 31 3/4" by 42 1/2" in gold leaf frame) on plywood panel, signed at lower right "WAHL", and dated there 2001. The painting is striking and handsome, the color combinations very in tune with today's retro contemporary look. A brief search of the name does not immediately point to a known artist. Medium is perhaps a thinned oil or gouache possibly, with some pencil lines drawn as well...

This is a very fine, classical early drawing, 5 1/8" by 8 5/8" (12" by 15 3/4" in attractive ornate gold leaf frame), not dated but likely dating to the 1830's through 1850 or so, signed at lower center by the artist "Loisel". The drawing, executed in pen, watercolor, and gum arabic highlighting in the trees and the low bank in center, is in excellent fresh condition, belying its age...
