**One of two works by the artist in my shop**, this is an oil on board painting of what appear as houses, rendered in rich colors, and in a firmly modernist style. The painting measures 11 1/2" by 14 1/2" and 15" by 18 1/2" in early gold framing. The work is signed at lower left in the paint. On the reverse side is a fragment, in poor condition, of another painting the artist evidently executed...

After a drawing by the noted French artist JEAN-FRANCIS AUBURTIN (1866-1930), this is an engraving in sanguine colored ink by the noted Swiss artist GEORGES AUBERT (1886-1961). Both artists have signed their names in pencil, Auburtin at the left and Aubert at the right. The work measures approximately 14" on a side within the mat opening (not examined out of frame), and 20" by 18 1/2" as framed...

ONE OF TWO BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP, a watercolor painting of a figure dressed for winter, by the noted Russian Socialist Realist artist IVAN VASILIEVICH SIMAKOV (1877-1925). The work, 13" by 8" inside the mat, is not signed on the front; on the reverse side of the aged board is a lot of writing in pencil in Russian, which I am unable to read, save for the artist's name...

Robert Sargent Austin 1895-1973 English This is a finely detailed line engraving by British artist Robert Sargen Austin. The title is: "The Pack Bridge, Aylestone, Leicestershire". The image measures 4 13/16X4 7/16 inches. It was created and printed in 1926 and appears in the Dodgson catalog as image number 65. It was printed in an edition of 60.

A rarely seen work by a well-known artist of Romania, LETA MIRONESCU (1896-1981), the subject an autumn forest painted in greens and yellows and browns. Hidden among the vigorous impressionist brushwork on the old paperboard is the signature of the artist, in the paint, at lower left, where she also dated the work 1926. Mironescu received education in art in Romania and then traveled to Vienna, Munich and Paris for further training...

A beautifully crafted oil on board painting of a barge and its brightly painted bow at a river dock in Europe, 13 3/4" by 17" (19 1/2" by 23" in inexpensive modern frame). signed at lower left by master Hungarian artist ERVIN KORMENDI-FRIM (1885-1939). A number of small figures, a bridge span, and distant buildings complete the richly-painted scene. The distinct structure at center right in the distance could provide a clue as to where in Europe this might be...

This work was done during the late 1930's as part of the 'Cooperative' project in the New Hope, Pa. modern art community. Charles Ramsey, Louis Stone and Charles Evans worked collectively on many drawings and paintings during this time...

An oil on canvas painting of a classic old sailing ship on the ocean off the coast, (possibly the Southern California coast around San Diego----think Richard Henry Dana's 1840 book "Two Years Before the Mast"). The painting measures"14" by 18" (19" by 22 1/2" in attractive probably original circa 1920 frame with very interesting eucalyptus leaf design), and is signed at lower right by the noted California painter ANGEL ESPOY (1879-1963)...

Nicely painted watercolor painting of dramatic alpine landscape, the location identified on the reverse in old Germanic handwriting that is somewhat difficult to decipher, though we can make out "Schoberspitze" and "Hohe Warte", placing this in Austria. The Schoberspitze reaches 2602 meters (8535 ft.) elevation. Comparison with a photograph of the mountain range shows a startling accuracy with the watercolor...

Etching on paper, 10 1/2" by 13" and a narrow simple wood frame, the subject three generations of women by a 19th century style hearth in which a pot is boiling, the print signed in pencil at lower right by the artist EDWILL FISHER. I have looked extensively online and have found some other examples of his art, all graphic art, the subject matter including European scenes of castles and cities, and the American subjects including scenes on the Ohio River...

A Japanese woodblock print of a Geisha standing, proper chop mark signature measuring 14x9 inches

A well executed watercolor and gouache on paper titled on the back, with an indecipherable monogram and the date in the lower left. Excellent color and good perspective it was probably done by a professional artist, if only I could read the monogram. London framers label on the back of the back board. Image 24 by 18 ¾ inches.

Condition; good, though the mat pulled a little of the color in the upper right. It is laid down on cardboard. SOLD

Dame Laura Knight 1877-1970 British This is a fine aquatint etching by British artist Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970) The subject is Pavlova in her role as a Grecian Dancer. It was created and printed in 1923 in an edition of 55. This etching is pencil signed and inscribed "print 2"..The image mesures 9 7/8X 6 7/8 inches. Printed on a medium weight wove type sheet.

Sir Francis Dodd 1874-1949 British This is a fine original drypoint etching by British artist Francis Dodd. It is a portrait of the artist Charles Cundall R.A. It was created and printed in 1926, hand signed in pencil lower border. The image measure 18X12 inches. Nicely framed with archival materials. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper.
