Federico Jiménez Fernandez was born in Madrid in 1841 and trained at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving of San Fernando where he studied with José Gonzalez Bande. He traveled to Paris to continue his studies, as did so many other artists of the time...

Oil on canvas scene of a flower-bedecked coastline, 24" by 30", unframed, signed at lower right by the noted, popular, prolific California contemporary artist, GARY RAY (1952-). This is an impressive example of Ray's work, with a thick, rich impasto, and size larger than most. The scene reminds of the Santa Barbara or Laguna Beach regions. Ray is a 4th generation Californian, born in Venice near Santa Monica...

Hermine David 1886-1970 French This is a fine original oil on canvas by French artist Hermine David 1886-1970. The subject is a group of strollers in Luxembourg Gardens, Paris. This painting done circa 1930 is signed lower right and measures 18 1/8X15 inches. Housed in a custom French style frame. Hermine was one of the Ecole de Paris artists. In 1918 she married Jules Pascin. Their association seems to have been an influence on the artwork of both artists.

Sir Francis Seymour Haden 1818-1910 British This is an original pencil signed mezzotint by British artist Sir Francis Seymour Haden. The title is: Breaking up of the Agamemnon No. II. This mezzotint was created in 1880, one of his most popular images, like the earlier etched impression done 10 years earlier in just etched lines. This image is made up of tone as well as lines in the composition.....

Caroline Baker Washington DC Artist,Abstract Revolving Sculpture in Lucite measuring 16x13” Ms Baker is well know for her work in lucite and has been in the Washington art scene since the 1970s

A beautiful pair of miniature portraits, both signed Fuger, painted in watercolors on organic material. In addition, the elaborate frames are made out of this same natural material, something rarely, if ever, seen. The sitters, in 18th century attire, are a young gent and lady posed against a blue sky with foliage and hills behind them.

Notes on the backs of the frames provide the following information: "These miniatures were bought by Ellen Franklin in antique shop Bellagio Italy in 1929...

An early 20thC oil on canvas by Rhode Island artist, Emma Lavinia Swan ( 1853-1927). This is an atypical and rare scene since Swan is noted from her floral paintings. It appears to have its original black wood frame. Signed in the lower right hand corner. The canvas measures 9" x 9"; frame 17" x 17". Listed/Davenports.

A fine miniature, painted in watercolor on natural material, by George Place. The subject is a rather jowly hazel-eyed fellow in liturgical garb. Housed in its original gold plated case.

The painting is in excellent condition with no issues. The black or white specs in the photo are only in the photograph. Size of the cased painting is 2 3/8" by 2".

NOTE: George Place (c1760 - 1805) was born in Ireland and studied there under F.R. West...

Yasuo Kuniyoshi 1889-1953 Japanese-American, Arts Students League N.Y. This is a fine original lithograph on Chine applique by American artist Yasuo Kuniyoshi. The title Before the Act, was created and printed in 1932 in an edition of only 40. Pencil signed and dated, printed by Grant Arnold, Woodstock. The image measrues 13 1/4X9 3/4 inches. Very fine condition. This image appears in the Davis catalog as image number 54.
