A typical example of watercolor work by the noted New Orleans artist NESTOR FRUGE (1916-2011), 10 1/2" by 8 1/4" (17 1/4" by 13 1/4" framed), featuring a a New Orleans street scene with ornate cast iron balcony at upper right. Fruge painted mostly watercolors and was a familiar and beloved part of the Jackson Square tourist scene in New Orleans for decades. He painted mainly French Quarter scenes but also on occasion works such as bayou swamp landscape...

Oil on canvas painting of a forest, 18" by 18", in its original oak frame 22" by 22", signed at lower right in red "MOORE" and dated there 1927 or 1924. The painting is a beautiful example of American impressionism of the early 20th century, with some really lovely colors hiding under the grime of nearly 90 years. The artist was obviously a talent to be reckoned with, though with the common last name it is difficult to attribute this to any particular Moore...

An impressionistic watercolor painting of a tree and brushy field, 9" by 8" (13" by 12" in wood frame), signed at lower left and dated there 1929 by artist EMMY LOU OSBORNE. I do not see biographical information on the artist but clearly she was a talented watercolorist. Condition is excellent.

The dimensions are roughly 10 1/2" by 4 1/2" by 3", and weight fully 5 pounds. These carvings sold as tourist art at mid century remain popular, and a secondary market has evolved. This Indonesian contemporary work is by the young, new generation artist DIYANO PURWADI (1971-). Purwadi was born in East Java and schooled there in art. By 1993 he was in Bali, where he now works from the art center town, Ubud...
