The study image in the center shows what Mr. Field looks like with the beard removed. The image on the right shows an earlier Sargent portrait of Mr. Field. The print (8 1/2" by 9 3/4" inside the mat, 15" by 20" as framed) is a very detailed etching typical of the meticulous style of the artist, renowned for his prolific printmaking. Popular and rare images by the artist, of New York City scenes, can sell for five figures. He traveled widely in Europe and architecture, especially Gothic architecture, especially revered by the artist, was a favored subject. This print is of a Gothic style building in Princeton, New Jersey...

In the early 1980s Haku Maki produced this unusual print, Poem 3. It has a kanji bottom margin (Mountain and Water) and is only slightly embossed. It is as if he started to do a lithograph and then decided to emboss it a bit. It is a modest-size print and not spectacular. By the time he did this print Maki had finished with embossed kanji and ceramics and was heading toward less compelling work.Poem 3 has a gold sun right center, but the print has no drama and no oomph. 15x15cm.

Big Green shows 4 moving figures.A similar image is in the US in the kas frane but it is 3 moving figures. I think these were not frequent uses for Maki Poem 71-84

John Henry Hill, American, 1839-1922, "Two Men in a Sailboat in a Rough Sea". This is an atmospheric marine etching by J. Henry Hill, after the painting by Otis Weber. The image measures 14 1/2 x 18 1/2 inches, published in 1886 by Klackner, New York, pencil signed on the lower right margin. Hill came from a family of artists and became a well known landscape and marine painter keeping with the pre-raphaelite tradition, influenced by John Ruskin and David Johnson.

Saarinen's model 61 "Grasshopper " chair was the first lounge chair he designed for Knoll in 1946. Responding to what he saw as the relaxed posture a sitter desires, he sought to support the seat, back, shoulders, and head in an organized way. His desire to simplify a form to its fewest elements resulted in the arms and legs all being connected and formed of laminated birch. A rare, early (1934) watercolor from an artist of the so-called "Lost Colony" of Saint Augustine, Florida artists, ROBERT HAMILTON, featuring one of the classic old buildings of the town dating to the end of the 18th century, the "Old Fatio House", (known today as the "Ximenez-Fatio House"), painted in an impressionist hand. Hamilton signed the work and lower right and dated it there. Measurements are 9" by 13 1/4" inside the mat, 14 1/2" by 18 3/4" as framed...

Oil on canvas painting of a tabby cat, 7" by 5" (12" by 10" framed), circa 1970 to 1980 judging from the framing, signed lower right "Jody". The artist was certainly talented; the likeness of the cat to reality is well above average. Condition is excellent. Needs to be nailed more tightly into frame.

A fine miniature portrait, attributed to J.V. Sturgeon, of a gent posed in front of a green curtain with blue skies visible through the window. This type of setting is uncommon in American minis, but has been done by Sturgeon in some of his works.

The miniature is set in the original gilded copper pendant with a glazed aperture on the reverse containing plaited dark hair. Excellent condition with no issues to speak of...
