This green and yellow bitter melon shape overlay glass snuff bottle is 2 ½ inches tall and 1 ¾ inches wide. It depicts a grasshopper landing on a Chinese bitter melon plant; a moth (or butterfly) is flying around a flower. The workmanship is great and the idea to make the bottle like a melon definitely makes it interesting.

This original etching is by Francisco de Goya. It is titled, "The Little Prisoner:" (Le Petit Prisonier). Poem 70-73 Taiwa (Level or peace), 31/106, 17.5”x 24.5”. Haku Maki produced this Big Green print in 1970. His Big prints-—large for him-—appeared mainly in the period 1968-75. A small French Impressionist style oil on board, entitled "London: Sunset at Hammersmith" by Italian born Piero Sansalvadore. Sansalvadore arrived in London, circa 1930, and started painting late in life. The majority of his pictures were produced during the 1930s and 1940s. This very well carved agate contemporary snuff bottle is 2 ¾” high, 1” wide and 3 quarters of an inch thick. The artist used the colors very well. The lighter part was carved as the body of the bottle. The dark part was carved as a bamboo branch with leaves and small Ling Zhi (tree mushroom). It is well hollowed, polished and in great condition.

This is a brilliant example of Haku Maki's Big Red prints, his frequent use of a large red character on a black background.

This is a Early 1820 Portrait of U.S Senator William Pinkney (1764-1822)of the state of Maryland. He was a outstanding Maryland Lawyer and was from Annapolis and then Baltimore. Early in our research, the Portrait appears to be in the style of Charles Willson Peale. (1741-1827). The Portrait measures 30" x 24" and is mounted in a new style gold leaf frame. And there was Animal Song which was Maki’s Asian Zodiac series, with 12 images. It was also a small series with small editions--50 in the case of Animal Song (released in Kyoto, so very hard to find: only one friend has the full set), I do not know who has the full set of Flower Song.
