This is a really beautifully painted oil on a coarse, almost burlap canvas, the subject a sun-dappled yard of a house or other Spanish-California type structure populating old and established affluent communities such as Pasadena or Santa Barbara, tables and chairs in this little paradise awaiting the next social occasion. The work measures 16" by 20", UNFRAMED (the first image, with gold frame, is for display purposes only...again, the item will be sold UNFRAMED)...

“FLOWERS & APPLES” oil on canvas 21.75” x 25.75” Henri Manguin is considered one of the founding father of Fauvism. He was born in Paris on March 23, 1874. Fatherless at the age of six years he was reared with his sister by his mother. At age 15 he decided to stop his education and devote himself to painting. Four years later, he left home and moved to Montmartre. Late in 1894 he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts to study under Gustave Moreau...

An original gouache (or casein, tempera, etc.) on paper of a Native American male warrior, signed at lower right by the noted artist WOODROW WILSON BIG BOW (1914-1988) and dated there '50. This is an earlier work by the artist, who was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma, the grandson of Chief Big Bow. The artist studied at the University of Oklahoma in 1939...

A classic painting of the Southwest---featuring desert vegetation, high mountains in the distance, (titled, probably in artist's hand, on stretcher, "Desert Verbena near Palm Springs"), by the noted, well-listed California impressionist artist, JOHN ANTHONY CONNER (1892-1971). The oil on canvas measures 24" by 30" (28 1/2" by 34 1/2" in old probably original frame)...

Oil on canvasboard, 16" by 12" (19 1/2" by 15 1/2" as framed), the subject trees in flaming autumn colors along a quiet dirt forest road, signed at lower right "P.L. King", no date but likely circa late 1940's or 1950's. For a time I had thought it possible that this was a work of the noted American impressionist PAUL KING (1867-1947) but I no longer believe that to be the case, so I am offering it as simply an interesting impressionistic landscape...

Traditional watercolor still life of roses, yellow daffodils and maybe some dogwood, arranged in a white vase against a sketchily defined background, 20" by 22 1/2" (27" by 30 3/4" framed), apparently unsigned, though a number "1432" appears at lower right corner under the mat (I do NOT think it says 1932). The paper was laid on a board long ago. I think this dates to the 1940's or so; the hand was trained. Condition is excellent and this is ready for the wall.

Circa 1930's or 1940's oil on canvasboard painting of a cognac bottle on a table top, an apple, lemon and orange completing the composition, signed at lower right "Henri Martin". The work besides an impressionist almost Pointillist hand, possesses a certain modernity particularly in the handling of the background. The painting would brighten dramatically with a cleaning to remove the old varnish and soiling. Measurements are 20" by 16" and 31" by 26 1/2" in the heavy, classic, dark oak frame...

A **PAIR** of black and white vintage photographs, circa 1948, of one Navion single engine small aircraft, flying over the San Gabriel Mountains behind Claremont, California, the photos by noted Claremont resident and pioneer aerial photographer, ROBERT C. FRAMPTON (1909-1989)...

Ink drawing on paper laid on board, measuring 14" by 15", and 21 1/2" by 22 1/2" as simply framed, depicting the famous and traditional Mummers Day parade held annually in November in Philadelphia. The work is signed with initials "F B" at lower right, and there is an old label from the N.W. Ayer advertising agency affixed to the reverse, with the notation of a delivery date of November 25, 1952...

African Ivory Coast Horned Mask, 8 x 16" h.

Max Thorek (1880-1960) was considered one of the outstanding surgeons of all time, but he was also noted as a very talented photographer, his efforts peaking in the 1930's and 1940's when he contributed mightily to the pictorialist movement. This original photograph itself measures 9 5/8" by 12 1/2" (other measurements 12 3/4" by 14 3/4" inside the outer, modern mat, and 17 3/4" by 21 3/4" as framed)...

This is a PAIR of color aquatints, each 8 1/2 by 12" inside the mat, 13 1/4" by 17" as framed, the subjects Notre Dame cathedral and the Seine in Paris, and the flower market at the Madeleine, each numbered at lower left out of editions of 500 and signed at lower right in pencil, by the noted French 20th century impressionist painter CHARLES BLONDIN (1913-1991)...

Beautiful oil Capriccio Scene measuring 46x36” by French artist Almon circa 1900

Signed at lower left "Albert L. Fischer", this is an unframed, sizable oil on canvas (46" by 27"), the scene almost mural-like: an apparently Italian lake (see the gondolier at right), framed by blooming wisteria dripping off a trellis at top and climbing a lattice at bottom, several boats plying the calm lake waters...
