A striking, complex drawing suggestive of three dimensionality, in rich teal blue and black, violet and gold, with strategic cut-outs revealing the white backing, 25" by 38' in the plastic enclosure box. The work does not appear to be signed but a fading label on backing gives the title as "Turquesa" ("Turquoise in Spanish) and the artist as JUNE SOBEL (1950-). Sobel was born in Queens, New York and grew up on Long Island...
Nicely painted on organic wafer, this miniature portrait is of a handsome gentleman set against a bluish-gray background. Housed in a low karat gilded cast foliate pendant case with an empty glazed aperture verso. The miniature is in a specially made leather case that opens and props open to allow the miniature to be displayed or removed.
The condition of the miniature and case are excellent, with no issues to speak of...
Original Victorian mourning graphite drawing of a dog protecting child from a raven. Signed in pencil by artist. In very good condition. Not inspected out of frame, but there is some age related foxing around the bird. Measures in frame 27" x 21".

A portrait miniature of a young and handsome man unabashedly directly facing the viewer. He is dressed in the height of fashion, wearing a black jacket, light orange cravat (which nicely matches his hair), and a white vest. Presented in a gilt cast foliate case, the reverse of which features a glazed tightly woven field of plaited hair.
Because of the convex glass, the photos unfortunately show reflections, white streaks, dots, and shadows, none of which are in the miniature...

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a good Thai repousse silver box with burlwood lining, depicting the Thai and Burmese kings in battle during the sixteenth century. A pencil drawing of a female nude, unframed, the sheet 17" by 13 3/4", signed with the artist's initials in his hand at lower left corner. This subject is likely famed dancer Isadora Duncan, to whom Walkowitz was introduced in Paris around 1920. He executed it is estimated some 5,000 drawings and watercolors of her, as he was fascinated with the fluidity of her movement and never tired of trying to capture it...
