This is a true lithograph, numbered 170/200 at lower left margin, pencil signed by the artist at lower right, the title of the work given on reverse label as "My Beloved is Like a Roe". The lithograph is by the important Jewish artist THEO(DORE) TOBIASSE (1927-2012). Tobiasse has often been compared to Chagall and Picasso, with his figure-based, personal, dreamy interpretations of themes like the exploration of one's heritage, exile, and Biblical and erotic fantasy...

This is one of three works I am offering, by a talented Canadian mid 20th century painter who signed her works "Eola Sutherland". Although there is online a photo of a gravestone for an Eola Hayton Sutherland (1884-1967) of Ontario, likely our painter, there is a lack of biographical information on the artist. Her skill is obvious, as is her familiarity with the Group of Seven and their style. Several have sold at auction in Toronto. This example measures 16" by 20", and is oil on board...

Oil on canvas laid on board, 10 1/4" by 13 1/4" (16" by 19" as framed), the subject snow-streaked brown foothills of the Rocky Mountains in early spring, the main range of the mountains in the distance, signed at lower right in ink "J.D. Unsigned oil portrait of a woman in her 30's or 40's, painted on a ceramic plate, roughly 10" to 11" diameter (squarish shape). The piece is likely by the noted Chinese-Californian artist George Chann (also known by his Chinese name Chen Yin-Pi) (1913-1995), judging from the distinctive technique. The present work does not appear to be by an artist, AL-HILALI, who is listed at the present time; however I feel the quality of the work suggests that as the market for modern Islamic art develops, the artist will be properly recognized. Watercolor on paper landscape of lush green mountains of Kauai, a mother and her child, palm trees and an historical one story building, the Waoli Social Hall, originally built in 1841 during whaling days as a mission church, the painting measuring 18 1/2" by 25" inside the present mat (presently unframed), signed at lower right "D Williams". The work is not dated but I would guess it would have been created around the late 1960's or early 1970's...

Hudson River School style watercolor on paper, 13 1/2" by 19" inside the mat, 24" by 30" as framed, signed at lower right "Byron Albee". This is a subtle, delicate, beautifully executed watercolor of trees and a line of stones next to a pond. Because it IS so subtle, it does not photograph impressively; but in person it is appealing. The work has survived the years in excellent condition with only a bit of well balanced overall browning of the paper...

A scene of an adobe with the classic protruding wooden beams, a low wall, springtime pink/white flowering trees and a split rail fence completing the composition. The work is apparently unsigned. It is laid down (glued) to Masonite panel. It shows signs of having been rolled in the past--long parallel vertical cracks in the paint, as shown in several images.
