Watercolor painting of roses in a pitcher, candlesticks and furniture completing the arrangement, an interesting patterned light from the window panes streaming in at an angle, signed at lower right by contemporary artist "T. Williams" and dated 1998. The work measures 20 1/4" by 27" (31" by 38" in wood framing). This is extremely clean and fresh and ready for display. I do not have a handle at this time on the identity of the artist, but the work was purchased in San Diego.

Old watercolor drawing (perhaps charcoal in places as well) with slight use of white gouache, unsigned, the subject a younger man of the sixteenth century or thereabouts. The drawing (15 1/2" by 12") is on grayish heavy paper (the true color is indicated by the first two images---the subsequent ones were taken in different light, suggesting a more tan color). The age of the drawing itself is especially difficult to determine in this instance...

**ONE OF TWO WORKS BY THIS ARTIST IN MY SHOP**Pencil signed lithograph titled "Annabelle Lee", 1946, signed at lower right in pencil by noted listed artist BUELL WHITEHEAD (1919-1993). Measuring 15 1/2" by 9 1/2" framed, this was executed by a talented and increasingly sought after artist who is most closely associated with Florida and California. A monograph on him was recently published by Ron Newsom of Florida, a friend and neighbor of the artist in his later years...

Pastel on paper painting of an outdoorsman cooking his dinner over an open fire alongside a creek or lake, the setting sun reflected on the waters where his boat is tied up, the work measuring 17 1/2 " by 25" (23 1/2" by 28" in its vintage circa 1920's frame). Signed at lower right "Gillette", this is by an American artist who was a member of the early century pastel school, now best known for works by William Henry Chandler, Glatthaar, Gunderson, and others...

Charles Baudelaire de face, etched portrait by Edouard Manet. The French poet was photographed by Félix Nadar in 1862 and the photo was the starting-point for Manet’s portrait. More than one version exists of the etching and this is number III. Signed in the plate Peint et Gravé par Manet 1865, and Imp. A. Salmon (printer´s name). On creme coloured wove paper, size of plate "3 ½ / 9.4 cm x "3 ¼ / 8.2 cm. The partly silvered frame measuring "7 / 18 cm x "7 / 18 cm. Condition: fine.

A vintage (mid century) watercolor painting of a very old stone church in Central America or Mexico, signed at lower left "Gil". The work is very nicely painted by an obviously talented watercolorist. Note the tiny figures in the composition, and the bright spots of color contrasting with the creamy stone of this circa sixteenth or seventeenth century church. Most likely this would be in Guatemala or one of the nearby countries, or in southern Mexico...

This is a late 19th century American painting by an anonymous artist, from the heart of the Victorian age. It measures 16" by 24" on the original stretchers (21 1/4" by 30" including the frame and probably original red velvet liner)...

PAIR of attractive impressionist paintings of a late autumn landscape with flaming trees, and a stream in a birch forest in spring, both oil on canvasboard, each signed lower right by artist M. F. BILAN and dated 1954. The artist does not appear to be listed but was talented. The strong contrast of the seasons portrayed makes the pair very complementary. The name suggests Russian or Jewish heritage. Frames are original and one has some staining at left as shown...

Original late 1960's lithographic poster, "115 Bank Street", by the famed modern artist ALEXANDER CALDER (1898-1976), printed by Mourlot. The piece measures 28" by 21" in orange metal framing (not examined out of frame). It is in acceptable decorative condition, the colors bright, but due to past moisture exposure, there is a vertical rippling pattern and in the lower three inches, there is some water staining, as shown in the photos. A colorful addition to your modern interior...

Pastel on paper, 10 1/2" by 23 1/2" and 2" inch wide very attractive and complementary oak Arts and Crafts appearance wood frame, unsigned, the subject bananas, peaches, and a basket, circa 1920. This is a typical example of the early 20th century American pastel school. Reaching back to artists who created pastels late in the 19th century, pastel artists like William Joseph Chandler, Glatthaar, and others created works for homes that would exhibit more quality than mere reproductions...

Large colored etching, posthumous printing, after the circa 1914 original print of the famous Austrian landmark on the Danube west of Vienna, the 18th century-built Melk Abbey (sometimes called Melk Monastery), signed in pencil at lower center by the son of the artist, Robert (the actual signature is preceded by "nl" which indicates Nachlass, or Studio, of the artist). The image is by the well-known painter and printmaker LUIGI KASIMIR (1881-1962)...

An impressionist still life of vase and flowers on a table top in an interior, 23 1/2" by 17 1/2" (29" by 22 3/4" framed), signed at lower right by artist HAIG ALTOUN and dated there 1940. The work is beautifully executed by a trained hand but strangely I do not see a listing for an artist by this name, which is of Armenian extraction. Condition is excellent.

This is a restrike of the large folio, popular and well-known lithograph "Winter in the Country---The Old Grist Mill" by Currier and Ives. Measurements inside the mat are 18" by 26 1/4", and the piece as framed is 26 1/2" by 33 1/2". The original 19th century lithograph is in the "Best 50" list, and it inspired many paintings after its publication...

Pair of small watercolors, one 3 1/2" by 6", the other similar at 4" by 5 3/4", each signed in a corner with monogram, one depicting industrial smoke stacks by a river at sunset, the other a pleasant promenade at river side with decorative lamp posts and arched bridge...

This is the 1928 (issue date) work "L'Eglise de Limours", dated and signed 1922 in the plate at lower left, after a painting by French School of Paris master artist MAURICE UTRILLO (1883-1955), with the graphic art assistance of also important master artist Jacques Villon. The work, unframed, and measuring 19 1/2" by 11 1/4" presently, is one of the very collectable "Chalcographie du Louvre" impressions.
