Original offset lithograph poster for the Tate Gallery, London, 1980 exhibition "Travels with Pen, Pencil and Ink, Drawings and Prints 1961-1979". The exhibition took place from July 2 through August 3, 1980, when Hockney would have been in only his early forties. This poster is very clean and fresh, and attractively framed in brushed silvery metal. There is a little even vertical rumpling of the paper----just enough to prove its earned vintage status at roughly forty years of age...

The artist's common name makes identification of the work's creator difficult, but the viewer can see the talent. The work measures 13 1/2" by 19 1/4" inside the mat, and 22 1/2" by 28" framed. A whimsical, colorful painting of a cat, signed at lower right with initials "C.L" and dated there 1980. The work is on canvas, 21" by 25 1/4" framed. The unknown artist was certainly talented. Further research could possibly determine his/her identity. The painting is in very good vintage condition. There is a bit of light soiling here and there but no punctures or other issues.

Pastel on paper, 10 1/2" by 23 1/2" and 2" inch wide very attractive and complementary oak Arts and Crafts appearance wood frame, unsigned, the subject bananas, peaches, and a basket, circa 1920. This is a typical example of the early 20th century American pastel school. Reaching back to artists who created pastels late in the 19th century, pastel artists like William Joseph Chandler, Glatthaar, and others created works for homes that would exhibit more quality than mere reproductions...

A very appealing small forest interior painting on board, 9" by 11" (12" by 14" in modern day gold framing), unsigned on front but on reverse in old hand is written (difficult to decipher) "near XXX farm Hampstead Heath/Oct. 3 1908 5 PM/P. P. (XXXX)". The word after P.P. is the last name of the artist but it has defied my efforts to make it out. The scene is painted in luminous tan colors with light grayish green and cream here and there, all in a very impressionistic blond to silvery light...

Japanese 1974 glazed earthenware pot rare glaze 4.5”x4”

By the well listed and accomplished American artist EARL HORTER (1881-1940), this is an accomplished watercolor painting of a shack or small house, perhaps at the sandy shore, a flagpole at left, inscribed at lower right "My regards to Mr. Newman/E. Horter 1915"...

A circa turn of the century oil on canvas painting of a creek and surrounding woods in the autumn of the year, 11 1/2" by 22 1/2", on canvas, and 17 1/2" by 29" in likely original frame, apparently unsigned. The work has survived over a century in excellent condition. No punctures or problems. There are a few chips missing from the frame. A pleasing, easy to live with scene that brings a sense of calm and reflection.

The famous large folio size Currier and Ives lithograph of 1864, "Winter in the Country" (sometimes referred to by its subtitle, "Getting Ice") is a very desirable image, and the original printing is very rare, highly coveted by collectors, and in 2002 with the late George Cohenour of Pennsylvania, Currier expert and publisher of a widely used price guide, that print is likely the most rare in the entire Currier and Ives production history...

Large and complex abstract drawing, possibly in oil stick or oil pastel, 27 1/2" by 18 1/2" (37" by 24 1/2" as framed), signed at lower right "Zohar" and dated there "12/89". This is a fairly common Israeli name and there are listed artists by this name but the style and signature do not seem to match up with them, so I am offering this as a great abstract that is sure to please from the decorative standpoint...

This is a beautifully executed work in charcoal, 18" by 15" (19" by 16" as framed), the subject a young girl, staring out at the viewer, likely wearing her school uniform, circa 1930's or 1940's, I am thinking. Unfortunately there is no signature. When I first saw this I thought it possible it might be by a Taos and Santa Fe master.......and I held on to it for many years, thinking I could run into another work that would unlock the mystery...

This is a mixed media work on paper, 9 1/4" by 12" plus 2 1/2 inches on a side of linen mat and inexpensive old frame, signed at lower right by the artist "J-Cl Imbert". It's a difficult to photograph work since it's rather dark and since I need to take the time to remove it from the frame to reduce the unusually troublesome reflections in the glass. Williams" and dated 1998. The work measures 20 1/4" by 27" (31" by 38" in wood framing). This is extremely clean and fresh and ready for display. I do not have a handle at this time on the identity of the artist, but the work was purchased in San Diego.
