A pleasant watercolor painting of a working windmill in an extensive landscape, the sheet 9 3/4" by 13 1/4", currently loose under a mat, no frame, signed at lower left by listed English artist ALFRED WILLIAM RICH (1856-1921). Other than normal age toning of the paper, there are several spots of foxing, a missing extreme upper right corner, which is easily hidden by the mat, and reverse browning from residue of varnish or old adhesive...

Executed on heavy watercolor paper, this is a beautiful work by a trained hand, 18" by 26 1/2", unframed, and unsigned. At lower left is written "Valley Ten P/1912", and to the right of and below that "After a fire". On the reverse in pencil is "Valley of Ten Peaks" and "MORAINE LAKE". The painting has foxing in the sky and the reverse is also foxed, but the colors are not faded...

It is signed at lower right and dated there "12" (the year 1912). The artist is ALBERT ABRAMOVITZ (1879-1963). Abramovitz was born in Riga, Latvia. This is a pretty, impressionist circa 1930's small landscape painting of trees and a path bordering water, painted on gray art board, measuring 9" by 12" (13 1/2" by 16" framed). There is no signature on the front but on the art board label is written in ink "Swick". This may or may not be the artist.
