If you collect early art of the Pacific Northwest, this vintage work might be of interest to you. Apparently unsigned, this multi-sided work measures 11" by 19" (14" by 22" as framed). This 1856 self-portrait by Seymour Guy (1824-1910) is mounted in its original frame. The signature is on the left side if the chair. Several of this American Artist can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There is some in-painting on the face and coat.

Etching on paper, 16 1/4" by 14 1/4", with narrow metal framing, pencil signed at lower right by artist, who, if I read correctly the Russian on the reverse, is one VLADIMIR KOSTROMIN. An old original label on reverse has a 1978 date, so I would imagine the print dates to the late 1970's. The ink is a greenish black. Moisture has compromised the margins and mold stained and rippled them; reframing would help exclude that...

The title: Little Franklin is named for a Ledge located off the coast of Friendship Maine. The image measrues 8 1/2X14 5/8 inches. Printed in an edition of 100 in 1937. Eby left a skim of unwiped ink on the plate to create tone in the water. A fine impression, nicely framed with archival materials.
