The photo on the left shows a double portrait by John Singer Sargent of Mr. John White Field and his wife. This painting was done in the early 1880's and is in the collection of Pennyslvania Academy of Fine Arts. The image on the right shows an earlier portrait of Mr. Field by Sargent. Notice Mr. Field is blind in his left eye, which is enlarged and his right eye is focused which is a good eye. It is my opinion that Mr. Field rejected the first portrait of himself done by Sargent...

A fine portrait miniature painted by William Lewis. The sitter is an attractive gentleman in a black coat, white vest, stock, and shirt, the latter highlighted with a stick pin containing three rubies. It should be noted that the technique and facial structure of this painting is at a higher level than Lewis' works display (see Note 2 below).

Excellent condition with no issues. Sight size is 2 3/8" by 1 7/8", and the later frame is 2 5/8" by 2 1/4".

An etching featuring cattle driven through a wood in a storm, 3 1/2" by 5 1/2" inside the mat, 8 1/2" by 10 1/2" in interesting simple wood frame with hand cut design, the work by noted American artist PETER MORAN (1841-1914). The title is "Showery Weather", and the print was issued in the year 1889. Moran was the youngest of the well-known Moran brothers of American art (Thomas, and Edward). He was born in England and was in the United States by 1844...

**PAIR** color offset prints after two Southwest landscape paintings by the noted artist ED MELL (1942-), each laid on artboard and measuring 24" by 36". They were found in brown metal frames with no mat; frames available with the prints at no extra charge should the buyer want them. The prints show slight evidence of the edges perhaps being slightly trimmed, and there are some light scratches and small losses at extreme edges on one print as shown...

"Rochelle" oil on canvas 10 1/2" x 11 1/4" w/o frame, 18" x 18 3/4" w/ frame Robert Philipp, painter and etcher was born February 2nd, 1895 in New York City. He studied at the Art Students' League whith Frank Vincent DuMond and George Bridgman from 1910 to 1914. He also studied at the National Academy of Design with Volk and Maynard from 1914 to 1917. Philipp painted a wide range of subjects from genre and portraits to Paris, bars, nudes, clowns, flowers and coasts...

Over the course of his print-making life, Haku Maki often depicted the kanji for Man, Woman, and Child. This is a “man” from 1979; it measures 9.5in W x 10.75in H and numbers 42 of a total edition of 204.

Still Life With Game, depicting a hare was done circa 1910 in oil on canvas. The painting is very fine and recalls the Still life’s by Manet and others just a few years earlier. The work is done in a highly impressionist style

This etching was created and printed in 1892. The image measures 4 5/16 X 8 15/16 inches.Printed on an early laid type sheet with collectors stamp lower corner of the border. This etching came to us with 1/8 inch margins on three sides.

John Henry Hill, American, 1839-1922, "Two Men in a Sailboat in a Rough Sea". This is an atmospheric marine etching by J. Henry Hill, after the painting by Otis Weber. The image measures 14 1/2 x 18 1/2 inches, published in 1886 by Klackner, New York, pencil signed on the lower right margin. Hill came from a family of artists and became a well known landscape and marine painter keeping with the pre-raphaelite tradition, influenced by John Ruskin and David Johnson.
