A large oil on canvas, 36" by 24" (44" by 32" framed), the subject a number of circus clowns, skillfully painted, signed at lower right by noted American clown artist ROBERT OWEN (1930-). Owen was born in Polk County, Missouri. For many years he has been recognized as a master at painting clowns. Reproduction prints have been made from many paintings. This example is in excellent condition. Note also the interesting framing.

A dramatic early black and white photo of the Empire State Building in Manhattan, photographer unknown, the structure featuring prominently at center of the image, surrounded by the lower buildings from which it emerges. The building was completed in 1931. Some information I saw online suggests the antenna was not placed until as late as 1952. The photo dates from somewhere in that period, and very likely to the early/mid 1930's...

The drawing is very strong and in excellent, fresh condition, and it is very nicely framed with a burl wood type frame and quality matting...

A wonderful watercolor on natural wafer, painted by Robert Field. The sitter, a very pretty young woman with brown hair and eyes, is posed in front of a red drapery, and is wearing a black jacket over a white dress with a neck ruffle. The ebonized frame appears to be original, as is the cover glass which has a black and eglomise border.

The condition of this rare gem is excellent, with no cracks, chips, paint loss, or bowing...

A small gouache painting of what I believe to be New York's tony upper 5th Avenue area in winter, the view looking south, encompassing the entry to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, skyscrapers filling the distance, 7" by 10 3/4" (13 1/2" by 17" in gold metal frame with double mat). I think it also possible that the scene could be Chicago's Michigan Avenue and the Chicago Art Museum; more research needed. The work is signed at lower left by German-born artist FRANZ BACHELIN (1895-1980)...

Picasso photolithograph poster for an exhibition held in early 1956 at the Galerie Lucie Weill in Paris. The measurements are 24 1/2" by 16 3/4". There is a narrow inexpensive black frame, and no glass. On the reverse of the framing materials is written in pencil, "Picasso/Papiers colles dessin M.F./photolitho 67 x 46 cm./1000 copies". A definitive book on Picasso's posters confirms that this was a run of 1000 examples, printed by Mourlot, the image after a work completed by the artist in 1...
