American c1940s Colored Woodcut of a sailor unsigned well done on a very thin paper no damage other than toning. Paper is 11.5" by 8.5"

An interesting pair of miniature portraits, painted on organic wafer. Framed in a slightly different manner, there is no question these were done by the same artist at the same time.

Fairchild is an obscure artist, with very few, if any, signed works. This attribution is based on the similarity in technique to an example in a book by Bolton, and information that the pair came from a couple living in CT who are purportedly descendants of the artist...

A highly detailed etching in brown ink, featuring canal-side classic old architecture of Amsterdam, 12 1/2" by 9 3/4" plus narrow wood frame, pencil signed at lower left margin by the very important Dutch-born 20th century artist WILLEM GERARD HOFKER (1902-1981). At right in pencil is "epreuve d'artiste" and "no. 24" in ink. Hofker was born in The Hague and received early art instruction from his father's friend, the famous artist Isaac Israel...

A really nicely painted oil on canvas landscape of a whitewashed, red-roofed farmhouse, a lane leading up to it, a dog, several tiny figures and a large feathery tree completing the scene, 13" by 16 3/4" (18 1/2" by 22 1/4" as framed), signed at lower right "G Zannoni" and dated below that with what appears as an 1860's date (partly under the frame, hard to see). The work may look slightly primitive close up but when viewed from normal viewing distance it all comes together as intended...

This, like many of his research notes, was an addendum to his book, The Life and Works of Haku Maki, which he published in 2007. He wrote an Appendix to the book called Chasing Maki.
