A charming impressionistic oil on canvas painting of a French village, 21" by 29" (26" by 33 1/2" framed), signed at lower left by the well-listed prolific French artist GEORGES LAPORTE (1926-2000). This image created and printed in 1928, has an image size of 11X6 inches, printed on an ivory toned chine colle, adhered to a thicker supporting sheet. This lithograph is numbered as 28/30. Very fine condition apart from a line of toning in the border where an earlier window mat once lay. Catalog as Davis L-30.

This a superbly Carved Crucifix was made from Walnut, both cross and corpus. Walnut is used on large sculptures such as this one, because it does not brake while the artisan is working it, and because it lasts a very long time. This large cross features a detailed hand carved sculpture of Jesus nailed on a wooden cross with forged iron-styled nails over his hands and feet.
