Expressionist Portrait of a Woman by Alexandra Kay, student of Cikovsky, Corcoran Gallery of Art. From the Cochran school of art where it was exhibited in the 1930s this oil which is unsigned shows the first black model of the school. Done in oil on canvas 28 x 20“ frame size the painting measures 24 x 16“ and is absolutely beautiful

One of a number of William Russell Flint prints in my shop, this is a fresh and clean example of the fine color photolithographs issued for collectors over a period of decades. This example, published in 1939 in an edition of 306, is signed in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed blindstamp in lower left margin. The title is "Provencale Granary". The 1939 date would place this among the earlier prints in the long series that spanned decades...

Blanche Camus, French, 1881-1968. This wonderful portrait of a woman on a terrace is 18.5" by 21.2" in an impressive 6" French Impressionist Frame. The canvas has been relined and there is minimal inpainting on the canvas with no repairs. It is from circa 1920-30 and is an extremely fine example of the use of broken brush strokes to convey the spray of sunshine and shadows in the scene.

A French Poster that belonged to the actress Greer Garson. This was lent to the College of Santa Fe for exhibition when Garson appeared in the production of Madwoman of Chaillot. On the back Garson has written the information, shown in photo. Measures about 16 1/2" by 23 3/4", frame overall about 17 1/2" by 24 3/4". Appears to be attached to backing. Nice Art Nouveau Style and interesting provenance.

A rare example of the 1918 lithograph print featuring German poet Ivar von Lucken, pencil signed faintly at lower right corner by famed Austrian expressionist artist OSKAR KOKOSCHKA (1886-1980). The print is quite rare, having been originally produced in an edition of only fifty examples; just a handful have appeared at auction in the past 25 years. Kokoschka needs little introduction, to collectors of important 20th century European art...

Paul Cesar Helleu 1859-1927 French This is an original drypoint etching by French artist Paul Cesar Helleu. It is identified as Elegante au Chapeau, created and printed C. 1900 in a small edition. The image measures 15 3/4X11 1/8 inches. Twice signed in pencil lower left border and lower left within the platemark. Printed on a medium weight wove type paper with the Helleu watermark. Richly inked burr still evident.

In the mid-1960s, Haku Maki was firmly launching his career as an important Japanese print maker. He did a series of prints of which a long and key series was the Alphabet A – Z. In turn, the Alphabet was the first series of what came to be many series of prints, all of which Maki called the Poem series. Prints in the Poem series continued to be produced until 1972. This is an original drawing in charcoal and watercolor, by the well listed French artist LUCIEN PHILIPPE MORETTI (1922-2000), the subject a young boy, 25 1/2" by 19 1/2", unframed. Watercolor painting of a mountain landscape in autumn, signed at lower left with what appears as "F. Renaud". A brook or stream occupies the right center. This is a nicely painted work, 4 5/8" by 6 1/2" inside the mat, 8 3/4" by 10 3/4" simply framed. The watercolor probably dates to the 1960's or 1970's. Photos were taken with the present cloudy non-glare glass removed. I suggest discarding it permanently in favor of regular glass. Ready to hang on the wall as-is, though.

A poster for the February 1992 Aspen Art Museum exhibition of the works of the highly regarded American contemporary artist, FRANK STELLA (1936-2024), measuring 34" by 23". The image is of a 1990 painted aluminum sculpture that was included in the exhibition. Stella hand signed the poster with blue felt tip marker at lower right. Watercolor painting of the famous 17th century church of Santa Prisca in Taxco, Mexico, signed at lower right "Carrillo" and dated there 1966. Poem 70-72. This striking Maki Big Red has had a long history for being just 40 years old. It has seen the world and is now back in Asia, in Beijing. This is as near to Tokyo, where it was created by Maki, that it has been in many years. In this case, the big red letter is the hiragana "chi" ‚¿ or shiru, which means to know, find out, to learn, or have knowledge. Gouache on paper drawing of a snowy mountain landscape with low structures depicted almost cubist style in the middle distance, apparently unsigned, circa mid 20th century, 12 1/4" by 16 1/2" inside the mat, 21" by 24" as framed. The cubistic handling of the houses reminds of artists like Andrew Dasburg and other New Mexico modernists, but this is just a guess. The colors are fresh and quite vigorous. The drawing is taped along the edges to a backing.

In 1960 Maki did the image shown. It is called Symbol. In all the years of collecting Maki prints and images I have never seen this one again. It is quite large but seems cluttered. Forty years later he did it as a print and a post card even as one friend has suggested he did the print before 1999, the date on the print. The seals are authentic not printed, and they are original Maki seals from well-used chops.
