Jacob was born in Tennessee and found himself in Montana at a young age, working in Glacier Park. He became acquainted with the well-known Montana artist Ace Powell, who became a mentor. A heavy bronze mid-century sculpture on a wood base, signed (incised) J. Soriano, measuring approximately 14" by 9" by 8" (bronze itself), the wood base about 10 1/2" high.  Note the fine lustrous brown patina. The signature is spurious, the work not by the famous Mexican artist sculptor Juan Soriano (so determined by correspondence from the representative/expert of his estate), but the anonymous work stands on its own merits, and it is likely to be of Mexican or South American origin...

Oil on canvasboard, 14" by 10" (19 1/4" by 15 1/4" as framed), signed at lower right in red "K. L. Weatherly" and dated there 1940. One of two works by this same artist I acquired at the same time, (the other one also in my shop), this is an impressionistic view of a southern American regional landscape, a swamp or lake with bald cypress and Spanish moss hanging from the trees. Such a scene would normally be encountered in a place like the Louisiana bayous...

The work is in need of a frame but otherwise is ready for display. Presently there is an inner frame remnant but no true frame.

The tightly cropped scene shows evidence of an artistic hand, the buildings reminiscent of San Francisco's Victorian architecture, or even European architecture. A primitive, circa 1880's oil on gray board landscape painting in the Hudson River style, with trees, water, and tiny figures completing the view. Measurements are 18 3/4" by 24 1/2", unframed. There is no signature. The board is slightly warped from old moisture exposure, which caused paint instability/flaking/losses at top couple of inches, as shown, and cracking at lower right. There are also a few light abrasions as shown.

Oil on canvas painting of a traditional German house or cottage in a forested landscape, 20" by 28" on the stretchers, 23" by 31" as framed, signed at lower right by artist "M. Lichtmann" and dated there 1920. The painting is beautifully executed, though there is very little information on the artist. There is stable craquelure, and a slight drip of foreign matter at center left, though the painting can be placed on the wall as-is.

A circa 1940's restrike print of the popular ice skating scene from "American Winter Scenes" series, measuring 17" by 23 3/4" inside the mat and 23 3/4" by 30 1/2" framed. The title was evidently cut off from central bottom portion at one point and was then affixed to reverse side. Coloring is in the print most likely and not hand coloring. Beautiful geometric print after Sonya or Robert Delaunay measuring 10x8”

A work over forty years old but very contemporary and stylish in feeling, a watercolor of young female bicycle riders at the beach perhaps, 14" by 21" (23" by 29" framed), signed at lower right by well listed California artist DOUGLASS EWELL PARSHALL (1899-1990). The work is also titled "CYCLISTS" on backing, where the artist has signed again, dated it 1972, and wrote address and, on an affixed sheet, "For West Coast Watercolor Soc'y"...

A fine seventeenth century marble sculpture of the Greek Goddess Diana, finely carved with provenance from the estate of Daniel Chester French 1850-1931. The piece bought directly from the estate of the sculptor from his home in Washington,DC. The sculpture was on his working desk and something he bought in Europe...

Lithograph, 14" by 21" inside the mat, signed in the stone at lower right, from an unknown edition possibly of about 5,000 examples, the title "Ma de Proverbis", 1970. This is extremely clean and fresh with bright colors not having suffered any fading from light exposure. The piece is accompanied by a bright green mat and simple black metal frame of the period. Allow for reflections in glass.

Francois Gall, Hungarian/French, 1912-1987 "Le Petit Dejeuner" is a beautiful oil on canvas signed F. Gall (lower right) 20 x 17 1/2 inches, good condition, circa 1940-50. It is Gall at his very best and was in the private collection of Frederic Stern of the Gering Galleries on Wilshire Blvd, Beverly hills, CA.

African Mask 10" long X 6 1/2" wide.

Impressionist painting signed at lower right with conjoined initials "MP", unframed, 24" by 18", the subject three female black dancers, two wearing festive hats. There is considerable energy in the scene and the stylized figures are by a trained hand. The painting likely dates to the 1960's or possibly 1950's. There are some light abrasions at lower left, a flaked area near the extreme lower edge there and another small edge loss at top, and light overall soiling.

A Fine and Rare 1893 Etching and Aquatint by the Well Regarded Belgian Artist, Felicien Rops (1833-1898). Image size is about 3 1/2" by 4 1/4", sheet size about 7" by 10 1/2". Monogramed lightly F.R. in red pencil under image.

Oil on board, 21" by 31" (27" by 37" framed), unsigned, the view late autumn or early winter in high western mountains, snow already on the ground and peaks but brown leaves still holding on to a few trees. The work is really very nicely done and I believe it quite likely that the artist is listed, but unfortunately it is just not signed. A finely painted miniature portrait of a handsome dark-haired young gentleman in a blue jacket, and a white waistcoat and stock. Presented in a rolled gold case with a glazed reverse. Though unsigned, there is a taped pencil inscription with artist's name en verso.

The condition is excellent with no issues to speak of. The overall size is 2 3/8" by 2 1/8".

This Maki Big Red has the Kanji (Chinese character) for Flower as its theme. The Flower is red and strong; it is set off by a black Sun to the right. A blue tear balances the sun on the left. A colorful set of African scenes. The medium appears to be oil on paper. Two are signed by Gallin, one is signed Bonnaie, another Hona (?)and the last Dzio(?). The frames show some wear and chipping and one picture is missing its glass but is protected by a plastic sheet.
