Manuel Robbe, French, 1872-1936, "Le Bouquet de Violettes," etching, plate measures 7 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches on 22 3/4 x 16 1/4 inch watermarked arches laid type paper. Colored etching and Aquatint. C. 1903. 1st state, edition of 65. Larger edition of 100 after signature was added to plate. Pencil signed in the lower right. Catalog: P-K 105. An intimate portrait of a young woman in her dressing room affixing flowers to her dress.

Ink on paper laid on board, 6 1/4" by 4 1/4" (the drawing itself), signed at lower right J.C.F.M. and signed again on reverse of the card "J.C.F. Murray '08" and titled "Volendam". I don't see a listing for this name, if I'm reading it correctly, but the drawing is obviously by a trained hand. Note the details of the wooden shoes on both figures, the traditional bonnet on the lady. Volendam is a small town north of Amsterdam and is known for its traditional dress and traditions...

Old (pre 1920, possibly as early as late 19th century) watercolor of coastal rocks, 10" by 14", the frame in which found measuring 18 1/2" by 22", signed at lower right "T. G. Stowers". The work, found in New England, was mounted on an old board years ago. As it was loose in the frame, I have removed it for photography, and will ship it between boards. This is a pleasing scene and quite typical of the artist's work. He was known for coastal and marine paintings as well as landscape in Denmark...

A fine cold-painted Vienna bronze eagle of the highest quality and unusually large size. The painted decoration is wonderfully complex and detailed. The bronze is marked "Austria" under the tail feathers. We have seen this exact bronze with Franz Xavier Bergmann marks.

Origin: Austria, ca. 1900. Condition: excellent, only the faintest paint nicks are the tips of a few features and beak. Dimensions: 9-1/4" x 6-1/2" x 5-1/4" high.

Watercolor on paper painting, 9 1/2" by 17 1/2" inside the mat, 16" by 28" as framed, titled at lower right "AT DITTISHAM R. DART", signed at left by the nineteenth century English painter who is known apparently only by the signature "F. Walters". The artist painted in many parts of England. This scene is near Dartmouth in southwestern England not far from Plymouth. I would judge the age of the picture as circa 1870...

Here's an unusual item, a painting on white milk glass, in oil, measuring 5 1/2" by 7 1/2" and 8" by 10" as framed. The somewhat folk art feeling work is not signed. I would judge the age as anywhere from about 1880 to about 1920----a nautical type could probably date this more accurately by noting in which decade such a ship would have existed. Condition is good with minor paint losses from scratches and aging. However the small losses are not really noticeable at normal viewing distance...

Watercolor on paper, 10 1/4" by 5 1/4" (15 1/2" by 10 1/2" framed), the subject apparently an ornate inner courtyard of a famous Portuguese palace and present day tourist magnet, the Sintra National Palace near Lisbon. I am guessing on this, having googled various possibilities, but comparing the window style, wonderful tile details and the castellated ledge at top, I think the odds are excellent that this be the Portuguese subject...

Manuel Robbe French This is a fine original color aquatint etching by French artist Manuel Robbe. The title of this work is: La Coquette. It was created and printed circa 1905. It is hand signed with pen and ink in the lower right border. Printed on a medium weight laid type paper. The image measures 14 1/8X10 3/16 inches. This image appears in the Merrill Chase catalog as image number 22. A fine example of his "belle epoque" style of expression.In a fine gilt foster brothers frame.

Oil on wood panel still life painting of wilting yellow roses in a bluish-green vase on a brown vaguely defined table top, signed at lower right by artist M. Verberckmoes and dated there 1902. There does not appear to be a listing for this particular artist but the name is Belgian in origin. The work, 12" by 16 1/2" (19" by 24" in frame) could use a light cleaning, as there is surface dirt throughout, and there are some surface abrasions that show as white areas in the photos...

This is an antique painting of a rose in a tall glass vase, 13 1/2" by 5 3/8" framed, unsigned, circa 1900. Found in Rockland, Maine. The work, being of an unusual shape, might be that perfect addition to your narrow little space. There is wear on frame and the painting has even light soiling consistent with its age.

Mortimer Menpes, English, 1860-1938, "Interior of St Maclou, Rouen". This etching by Mortimer Menpes measures 12 3/8 x 6 3/8 inches, pencil signed, c. 1902, edition of 50, looking towards the Gothic Baldachin. Menpes attended the School of Art in London in 1878 and started exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1880. He became a major figure in the etching revival, producing more than seven hundred different etchings and drypoints, which he usually printed himself.

For the collector of early, 19th century California art, here is an east coast-style still life work, 10" by 14 1/2", unframed, signed at lower right "Bertie L Emery" and dated there 1892. The shallow dish holds oranges, grapes, a banana, and possibly slices of cake or bread, the dish resting on a white cloth, on an unseen tabletop. Interestingly for art history, Emery signs her first name as "Bertie"...

Oil on board Currier and Ives style winter landscape viewed from birds eye perspective, 18 1/2" by 24 1/2", 23" by 28 1/4" framed, unsigned, circa 1900, or possibly even earlier, painted in a primitive hand.
