Andrew Thomas Schwartz (American, 1867-1942) oil on canvas of a hilly landscape with the morning mist rising off the more distant hills. A few evergreens, probably cedars, sit in the field that appears to be tan with autumn. The only sign of habitation is a low stone wall. A very similar painting though slightly larger was sold at Doyle in New York in 2006 titled, “Clearing, Morning, Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia” and dated 1912...

A beautifully executed painting on canvas of New Mexico Native American pottery pieces, (perhaps from the Zia Pueblo?), signed at lower left by artist "Angelika". The work, 20" by 24" (24 1/2" by 28 1/2" framed) is painted in a realistic style, so that the pots seem to be three dimensional. This is a highly decorative piece and will complement your Southwest interior. The frame is not especially complementary; a more appropriate one will enhance the presentation.
Henri Edmond Cross, French, 1856-1910. This exquisite watercolor is 18.8cm W by 13.8cm,

Early twentieth century impressionist painting of one of New Orleans' famous courtyard subjects, 9 1/4" by 7" as framed, signed at lower right corner "Don Juan". While an interesting name to be sure, I have not been able to find a listed artist corresponding to it. The work though is by an obviously trained and talented hand. The vintage frame makes all in all for a very satisfying little painting sure to please the New Orleans fan. The surface is soiled evenly, consistent with age...

Published: June 10, 2012
In First Around, one of Willard Bond's best-known paintings, two towering yachts are caught in a roiling sea. The one to the fore is rounding a mark, sharply heeled in the wind, its crew crammed by the upper rail to keep it from capsizing. It has not yet raised its spinnaker, the balloonlike sail toward the bow...
Internationally acclaimed artist Bruce Onobrakpeya (b. 1932 ) produced this expressionistic image of a black fishes during one of his earlier periods of artistic expression in 1963. The serigraph depicts gold fish swimming in a pond or lake expressing, perhaps, the beauties of African natural life. Onobrakpeya has a wide following, including Prince Phillip of the United Kingdom from whom Nigeria, Onobrakpeya's native country, gained independence in 1960...

From our Southeast Asia Collection, this is the fourth and last offering from our four-part series of Burmese Hyper-Realism Masterpieces executed in charcoal. From a technical perspective, these are some of the most extraordinarily realistic renditions in charcoal that we have ever seen, from any culture and from any time period. The artistic talent reflected in the creation of these works is really nothing short of amazing, especially when considering the inherent limitations of working in char...

Louise Peyrat is a French born artist who is the cousin of the famous artist Maurice Utrillo, who greatly influenced Louise in his art career as is evidenced by this gem available at our gallery. There has been a recent surge of interest in Peyrat. I have seen much of Louise Peyrat's work and and this piece is one of the finest examples of his talents and one of the finest examples of the influence Utrillo had on Peyrat. Mr. Peyrat i...

For the dog aficionado, especially those who prize the terriers, a 24" by 30" pastel of two white dogs lounging most comfortably on cushions in an upscale interior, while staring out placidly at the viewer.
The piece is apparently signed in monogram at upper right within the oval, the monogram seemingly "AVB" or something similar. For a time I thought the work unsigned, but, the monogram does indeed appear to be a signature. To date I have been unable to tie it to any known or well-known arti...
A fine watercolor on natural wafer, done by Simon Jacques Rochard. The sitter, a rather sexy looking young woman with blue eyes is wearing a decollete black dress with a bow at the bodice, a white underslip, gold necklaces, and a black lace veil in her reddish-brown ringletted hair. This work is an excellent example typifying the "Romantic" genre popular at the time it was painted.
The condition is excellent, with no flaws to speak of, as is the condition of the later gold case. The sight size...
