This is a pair of engravings from Peterson's Magazine, 1877 and 1882, both nicely hand colored. Size as framed 18" by 20". The prints, titled "Les Modes Parisiennes" are very clean inside the mats. There are vertical central creases as no doubt issued. These would make for a pleasing addition to a bedroom or lady's feminine dressing area. Allow for reflections in some images.

A beautifully painted miniature portrait by Elkanah Tisdale. The sitter is a handsome older man dressed in a black coat. The painting measures 2 3/4" by 2 1/4", and is in superb condition, with no chips, cracks, bowing, paint loss, or restoration. It is housed in its original gilt metal insert.

Few miniatures by Tisdale are known to exist, and with very rare exception, are, as is the case here, unsigned...

A watercolor miniature portrait done by Richard Morrell Staigg. The sitter is a nice-looking blue-eyed young man in a black coat and cravat, with a light blue vest. As is usual with Staigg, the painting is superbly limned. It is housed in one half of a leather case.

The condition is excellent, with no problems whatsoever. Sight size is 3 1/2" by 3".

Etching (5 5/8" by 7 1/2", 13 1/2" by 15" in pleasing old gold framing), titled on reverse label "Fishermen's Houses Saint Tropez", (French Riviera), pencil signed in the margin by listed California artist REGINALD WILMER VAUGHAN (1870-1958). Re Framed fresh landscape signed American original oil painting on canvas depicting redwoods or sequoias- California Pacific Northwest trees in bright burnt sienna and spring green. Bold romantic American modernism approach. Oversized Japanese woodblock print by Shufu Miyamoto (b. 1950) titled "Water Weeds at Hiroshima." The lower margin is pencil-titled in kanji and English, pencil-signed, and dated '84. An oil on canvas painting of a young prince or son born of a noble family, 30" by 24 3/4", unframed, unsigned. The boy's face to my eye reminds of Goya, so perhaps this could be of Spanish origin (though, "FRANCE" is written on the stretcher in modern hand).
