THREE hand colored French 19th century prints featuring early-day Japanese soldiers, each 9 1/4" by 6 3/8" inside the faded old violet mats, to which each is simply taped at top edge. The image measures 9X 4 7/16 inches. The image is plate signed and dated upper right corner of the image, printed on a medium weight laid type paper. A very rich impression, nicely framed. This image appears in the Wentworth catalog as image number 52.

Printed by Delatre in Paris, this Felix Bracquemonde frontispiece measures 14 x 9 3/4 inches, published by Alfred Cadart, Paris. Created in 1865, this bold allegorical etching was created as the frontispiece to a volume of the renowned periodical of the Société des Aqua-Fortistes, a group promoting etching as a fine art. Unusual watercolor of what appears to be a wagon on the plains, piled high with rocks perhaps, and, even, the skull of a buffalo, signed at lower right "P. PARSONS '96".
